JEWELRY.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. ao, 1911.

m m w sTATEs PATENT OFFICE- HERMINE'H. EICHBA'UM, 0F STOGKTON, ALIFOBNIA.
Locezs.
TocZZ twhom t may concern."
Be it known that I, HERMINE I-I. EICH- BAUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stockton, in the county of San Joaquin, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l Jewelry; and I do declare the following to l jewelry, and particularly to stick pins, hat
pins, lapel buttons and the like, the object of the invention being to produce a holder into which may be inserted interchangeable pictures, emblems, jewels .or the like, and particularly to hat pins or other pins on which small photographic pins or badges are to be inserted.
The invention further can be employed for the interpositionof jewels or any jewelry of any kind or nature whatsoever.
A further object of the invention is to pro-v duce a simple and inexpensive device, and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of parts as` will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim.
In the drawings similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views. Y
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hat pin showing-my improved structure. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional View of the same. Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a modified form of holder? Fig. 5 is a sideview of a badge or button used in connection with my improved'struc-l ture, such button being adapted to be used in connection with the modified form of holder shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 6 is a side elevation showing another form ofV jewelry. Fig. 7 is a perspective View of a badge or button holder'adaptedto be engaged in the coat or garment.
Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings, 1 designates a pin such as a h'atpin or the like, having al suitably ornamentedfv cupshaped head 2 and a projecting resilient Specification of Letters Patent. applicati@ mea August ao, 1911. serial no. 646,904.

button member 3 centrally disposed in said cup-like member 2.
A The numeral 4 designates the badge orV button which may be of anV desi desired provided with a socket 5 y gn adapted to fit over the resilient button member 3 to'hold the j button in the member 2, the' outer edges 2a and 4a'of the members 2 and 4 being resihent and ofsuch relative sizes as to hold each other in frictional contact when the parts are moving around with respect to each other. As will' be apparent, this permits of an interchange of buttons or badges or of ornaments or of any design desired.
the socket 8.
Fig. 6 shows a further vvdesign wherein there may be'a large design 12 having a projecting socket 13 into whichmay be inserted a stone or other ornamentation as may be desired, which would, of course, be
provided with a resilient button member similar to the member 10.
Fig. 7 shows still another way in which the device could be used namely, there being a plate 14 having prongs"15 by which the same could be fastened to a garment, such member 14 having a' resilient button member 16 to receive the socket of the ornamental badge, button or other design, as may be found desirable.
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that I have produced such a device as' substantially fulfils the object of the invention as set forth herein.
While this specification -sets forth in detail thepresent and preferred construction of the device, still in practice such deviation from such detail may be resorted to as does not form a departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new anduseful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is Adevice of the character described comprising a pin, a concave holder supported on the end of YVsaid pin, a resilient button secured centrally in said concave holder, an
kornament having a convexl surface, a socket button or badge and provided on itsother joined in order to keep them from In Fig. 4 is shown an auxiliary head mem i member secured centrelly s aid convex surl In testiinonyv whereof I hereunto aiir my face and receivin said resihent button, the signature in presence of two witnesses.
- outer ed es of sai holder and of said ornament beigng resilient, the outer diameter of` HERMINE H -EICHBAUM saidornament being slightly greater than the f Witnesses: A inner diameter of said holder holding each STEPHEN N. BLEWETI,
other in, rietional contact, as described. FRANK H. CARTER.
