To all wiz-0m 25 may concern Be it known that I, MORITZ WIESNER, of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Card or Label Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and to the reference-numerals marked thereon.

My present invention relates to tagging or labeling and it has for its object to provide a simple, cheap and eilicient card holder wherein the card may be removably or interchangeably retained in a manner in which any properly arranged inscription thereon will be exposed to view and the invention has for a further object to produce a structure particularly adapted for formation from paper, cardboard or similarsheet material.

The improvements are still further directed toward providing such a card holder that will be suitable for use on a paper or other envelop.

To these and other ends the invention consists in certain improvements and combinations of parts all as will be hereinafter more fully described, the novel features being pointed out in the claim at the end of the specification.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a plan view of a card holding envelop constructed in accordance with and illustrating one embodiment of my invention; Fig. 2 is a side View; Fig. 3 is a longitudinal central section taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a transverse section taken substantially on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1.

Similar reference numerals throughout the several figures indicate the same parts.

The paper, document, or other article holding envelop which I have chosen to illustrate in the present instance in connection with the invention comprises a front. wall 1 and a rear wall 2, the latter having a reinforcement 3, and the two walls being connected on three sides b-y intermediate Specification of Letters Patent.

collapsible walls 4. The opening in the envelop is closed by a flap 5 having an attaching portion 6 secured to the front wall and arranged to overlap the rear wall. The intermediate wall 4 extends over the outer faces of the envelop and is secured to the respective walls at 7.

Superposed upon the front wall 1 is a backing 8 composed, in the present instance, of relatively stili' and rather heavy paper, the opposite longitudinal side edges thereof being doubled upon the body portion at 9 and secured thereto to present separated free or exposed edges 10. Upon the backing in turn is superposed a frame piece 11, the opening 12 of which is of suitable shape and size and on three of its edges, the margins 13 thereof are doubled over at 14 to embrace the doubled portion of the backing being' secured to and retained between both the latter and the wall 1 or to the portions 7 of the intermediate walls which intervene. The body of the frame piece is also secured to the outer face of the doubled portion 9 of the backing.

The card 15 on which the inscription is made is slidably retained between the backing S and the frame piece 11 on account of the spacing of these parts by the portion 9 being viewable through the opening 12 and adapted to be withdrawn, in the present instance, from one of the narrow ends of the envelop. During its movements, its opposite edges run upon the exposed edges 10 of the doubled backing which act as guides and it is pointed out that these guiding faces being clean cut and regular offer very little frictional resistance to the passage of the card and will wear extremely well, while, were the card simply guided in a crease or fold, there would be a binding action that would be most unsatisfactory.

I claim as my invention.
