Description

F. B. YOUNG.
HEATING STOVE.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 1, 1912.

Q/vibneooeo AEN'E error,
FIiOYD B. YOUNG, OF LUDLOW, ILLINOIS.
HEATING-STOVE.
Application filed June 1, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FLOYD B. YOUNG, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Ludlow, in the county of Champaign and State of'lllinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in heating stoves and more particularly to a stove which is provided with an outer jacket which assists in more thoroughly distributing the heat in the room in which the stove is located, the object of the invention being to provide a heating stove having a stove jacket which will tend to throw the heat toward the floor of the room so that instead of heating only the upper part of the room, as most of the stoves now in use do, the lower part of the room will be as thoroughly heated as the upper part.
Another object of the invention is to provide a heating stove which will possess advantages in points of efliciency and durability, is inexpensive of manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a vertical sectional view of a heating stove constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates a stove which may be of any well known construction and is provided on one side with a door 2. The stove l is inclosed by means of the double casing 3 which comprises the inner and outer casings a and 5 respectively. The inner casing at is somewhat smaller than the outer casing, and is located adjacent to one side thereof and secured to the outer casing by Specification of Letters Patent.

means of rivets 6. The casings 4 and 5 are of the same length, but the outer casing 5 is supported above the floor by the legs 6 and the inner casing is to be dropped down so as to rest on the floor and leave a space 7 between the upper ends of the casings. The top of the casing 4 is open as shown at 8 so that the heat from the stove 1 will go out through the top of the casing and circulate down through the casing 5 and out at the bottom thereof thus keeping a continual circulation of warm air through the lower portion of a room.
A cold air duct 9 extends in through the wall of the building in which the stove is located and communicates with the interior of the casing 4 at its lower portion so that a continual flow of cool air is received into the inner casing to be heated by the stove 1, and passing out through the top of the casing circulates down through the casing 5 into the room. The flow of air through the duct is cut ofi by means of the swinging valve member 10 which is operated by means of the handle 11 located on the outer side of the duct.
From the above description taken in connection with the drawings it will be readily apparent that I have provided a heating stove whereby a continual flow of pure warm air will be circulated around a room.
While I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying my invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope thereof.
Vhat I claim is The combination with a stove, of a j ackct comprising an outer casing closed at its upper end, legs supporting said outer casing and spacing the same from the floor, an inner casing of smaller diameter and equal in length to that of the outer casing, said inner casing being located adjacent to one side of the outer casing and secured thereto, said inner casing resting upon the floor and open at the top thereof, an air duct extend- 5 the flow of COO-t e ,into the me: casing ing in from the exterior of the building in I In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my which the stove is located and communicatt signature in the presence of two witnesses. ing with the interior of the inner casing at its lower portion, and means forcontrolling FLOYD B. YOUNG.
