Specification of Letters Patent.
Original application filed February 4, 1911, Serial No. 606,605. Divided and this application filed September 19, 1912. Serial No. 721,234.
To au w/wm, 2v may concern.: f
Be it known that I, EMILE GABRIEL Royan, a citizen of the French Republic, and resi' dent of Paris, France, lhave 'invented certain 5 new and useful Improvements in Electric Incandescent Lamps, otl which the following is a specification.
' V.The present invention which is a division of my application No. 606,605 filed Febr. 4th,
l'tlilll, relates to an electric lamp the novelty of which consists in that., .on the end of' an extension of the usual holder, the filaments are arranged in alternate positions in two horizontal planes or layers which are at different levels'in such a manner that, in vertical projection, each filament of theupper plane of filaments is arranged substantially between every two filaments of the lower plane of filaments, or said upper filament crosses'the lower filaments more or less at a right angle. Ihe accompanying drawing shows an ample of the object of the invention.
Figure l is a view of one constructive 5 form of theinvention. Fig. 2 is a corre spending top View. The filaments are arranged in two super- ,posed horizontal planes or layers, the fila-l ments of each of said planes alternating with respect to each other, 1n such a manner that, in vertical proyection, each filament offl 'the upper plane 1s located between every two This arrangefilaments of the lower one.
r ment of the filaments enables lo furnish a o maximum lighting in vertical direction, as well as sidewise. rIhe glass rod l suppprts a glass ring 2 on the outer pol-bionet( wnigh are secured hooks 3 which hold the filamentportions li'of the lower plate, while the' inner portion of" the .ring 2 is provided with hooks 5 which are intended to hold the filament-portions G'of the upper plane.
The form of arrangement of the filaments may dier, it maybe round, oval, square or 'the like. More than two layers of filaments may be provided, according to the desired increasing ofthe intensit of the light emitted by the outer edge o said layers. The filament portions -conld also surround an axis, when providinga corresponding holding' arrangement, thus forming aI lighting globe. L
Having now fully describedI my saidinvention, what I 'claim andf desire t-osecure.
yprojection each filament .portion of the upper plane of filaments is arranged substantially between every two filament portions of the lower plane of filaments. v
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses. Q y EMILE GABRIEL ROYER.
