bined Crimping and Sad Iron, of which the following is a description:
My invention. relates to the combination of a common sad-iron and a crimping or fluting iron.
Figure 1 in the drawing is an elevation of both parts. Fig. 2 is a top view, showing the crimping part in operation as used, except that when used the sad'iron should be placed on its side.
In the drawing, the letters a a, a represent the sad-iron; b b, the fluting or crimping segment on one of the sides of the sad-iron, and c c a separate casting, to fit into the flutes of the segment cast on the side of the sad-iron.
The sad-iron is cast and made in the ordinary manner, with theaddition of a fluted segment on the side, so arranged as not to interfere with the ordinary use of a sad-iron; but when used as a crimping or fluting iron it is laid upon the side opposite to the crimping part, and I cast the male part to fit into the flutes in a separate piece, a 0, in the shape of a rocker, which I call the separate crimper, with a convenient handle, and both are heated at the same time, and the rocker form prevents the tearing of the material to be crimped, as it is gradually operated upon by the rocking part, and, when both are used in this way, the material is readily handled and adapted to the irons for crimping or flutin g. They can be made of any size desired, and the crimping part can be increased in the number of flutes, if wished. i
What I claim as my invention isl. The construction and arrangement of sadiron at a with crimpingiron b b, as and for the purpose set forth.
2, The combination of sad-iron a a, crimp ing-iron I) b, and crirnper c a, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
