' Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 31, 1912. Serial No. 718,046.
Patented Apr. 22, 1913.
To all whom/it may concern A integral .on the sleeve part of the pocket and adapted to overlie the pocket part'to close Be it known that I, Mourns BARRow, a subject of the Czar of Russia, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of 'New -York, have invented a new and Im roved Dress-Shield Pocket, of which the i ing is a .full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved dress shield pocket,
more especially designed for use onwa-sh able garments, such ascorset covers and the like, and arranged to permit the convenient inserting of a dress shield and retainin g'it" correctly in place therein, and to allow of removing the dress shield from the pogket.
immediately prior to washing the garment thus preventing injury to the dress shield while the garment is being washed. For the purpose mentioned use is made of, a dress shield pocket at each sleeve and formed in twoparts, of which one partis attached to the sleeve at the under portion thereof and the other is secured to the inside of the body of the garment, the mouths of the two pocket parts beingboth 0 en along the bottomscye, and a closing ap bothpocket parts atthe same time.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented .in the accompanying drawings forminga' art of this specification, in
iiaracters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both of the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a corset cover provided with dress shield pockets;
and Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional side elevation of the dress shield pocket as applied at one of the sleeves and with a dress shield in-position therein. I
The dress shield pocket is formed by two pocket parts .A and B, of which the pocket part A is sewed to the inside of the body C of the garment, while the other pocket art B is sewed to the inside of the sleeve the under portion and sides thereof, both pocket parts A and B being approximately of crescent shape and having their mouths at the scye E of the garment. The'sleeve pocket part B is provided with an integral closing flap F'adapted to overlie the body pocket 'part A and adapted to be fastened thereto by a fastening device G, such as a button ollowvWhen it is desired to wash the garment correspondingly-shaped pocket parts, and
after this is done the flap F is moved into closed position and fastened to the body pocket aart A by the use of the fastening means corresponding portions ofthe sides of the body pocket part A, so that when the flap F is in closed position it tends to clamp the shield corners in place in the pocket parts g up.
thus preventing the shield from curlin the Portions Ff, of-the sides of the flap, are sewed or otherwise attached to'the fastening means G are unfastened to allow of swinging the flap F into open position thereby, permitting the user to remove the dress shield H from the pocket.
I It is understood that dress shields are usually faced WIth, rubber or a similar ma- ,terial impervious to moisture, and hence such dress shields when permanently fastened to the garment are liable to be spoiled while washing the garment. By the use of the pockets shown and described the dress shields-of a garment can? be readily removed prior to washing, and can be conveniently replaced in the pockets after the garment is washed. It is also understood that by making the pocket parts A and B similar in shape tothe dress shield, the latter is held properly in place in the pocket arts especially as they are closed by the flEip F.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
, 1. A corset cover or like washable. gar ment, having a body, sleeves, and dress shield pockets at each sleeve, each pocket being formed of two parts arranged at opposite sides of the bottom of the scye, and of which parts one overlies the sleeve mate-- rial of the garment and the other overlies the body material of the garment, the parts being secured along their sides tothe said sleeve and body materials, the mouths of the pockets being open alon the bottom of the scye for the insertion o a dress shield, a closlng flap integral on the sleeve part of the pocket and adapted to overlie the other body pocket part to close both pocketmouths at the same time, and fastening means for fastening the closing flap to the body pocket part approximately midway body pocket part to close both pocket between the said attached side edge portions mouths at the same time, portions of the of the flap. side edges of the said closing flap being 2 2. A corset cover or like washable garattached to the corresponding side edges of rnent having a body, sleeves, and dress the body pocket part, and fastenin means shield pockets at each sleeve, each pocket for fastening the closing flap to t e body being formed of two parts arranged at oppocket part approximately midway between posite sides of'the bottom of the scye, and the said attached side edge portions ofthe 25 of which parts one overlies the sleeve mateflap.
