Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented A111215, 191 3.
Application filed September 18, 1911. Serial No. 649,839. l
To ZZ ic/mm it muy concern.:
Be it known that I, CARL E. BROWN, a citizen of the'United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a new and usefui Necktie-Form, of Which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to necktie forms.
The object or' the invent-ion is to provide` an article of this character, that shall be simple in character, eiiicient and durable in.
use, easy to manufacture, -find readily applied to and retained in pdsition on a collar button. and which when assembled with a four-in-hand necktie, will not impart to the latter a stili3 andunnatural appearance, nor in any Way damage the same', buton the'contrary will serve materially to prolong th`e period of its usefulness.
lVth the above and other objects in view,
s will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in thenovel arrangement of parts of a necktieform, as will hereinafter be fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, the ligure is a View in front elevation of a necktie forni constructed in accordance with the present invention.
The form is stamped from a strip of `Flat readily flexed metal ot' any preferred charactor, and comprises a straight shank l provided at each end with a necktie engaging loop and intermediate of its ends With a lug 3 formed with a circular collar-button receiving orifice 4, the loops and lug being disposed in the same plane as the shank, to l facilitate the positioning of the form Obetween the folds of a collar, and to present an article that shall be of the same thickness throughout its length thus to avoid any distortion .either of the collar or of the necktie when YtuA lat fr is positioned.
To seciii'e the frame -of the orifice to a collanbutton, there is a latch 5 provided,
'which is pivoted to the shank and is pro vided with an open-sided button shank receiving crotch, which, when the latch is in the position .shown in fulllinesin the drawings Will effectively lock t-he form to the button. v
The improvements herein defined, While simple in character, will bedfound to co-act in the presentation'of an article that Will be thoroughly effective in use, and Will not detract in any manner from the graceful appearance of the necktie.
A neck-tie form stamped from a strip of fiat metal and comprising a straight shank pro-vided at each end With a necktie engaging loop and intermediate of its ends with a lug formed Wit-h a circular collarbutton receiving orifice, the loops and lug being` disposed in the same plane to facilitate the positioning of the form between the folds of a collar, and a latch pivoted to the shank and having an open-sided but-tonshank receiving crotch tov lock the form to a collar-button.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto atiixed my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
CARL E. BROWN. Witnesses:
