JoHNfHQfWILHELM, or uniendo,i ILLIN'crs.
` Letters Patent No. 105,871, dated July 26, 1870.
The Schedule referred `tio in these Lettera Patent and making part of the same.
To all ufhoni it mtl/y concern,- Be it know-n that I, `JOHN H. WILHELM, of Chicago, in the county of 'Cook-'and IState of Illinois,
\ `have invented i an Improved "Curtain-Fixture ;and
I do'herebydeclarel-that the` following is a full and exact description thereof', `which will enabletliose skilled in the art to make and usefthesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and letters marked thereon making a part of this speeiicatiomin wliich" .l figure 1 is `an elevationofa ,windowwithinyour-l tain-fixture attached. i i l Figurev 2, a section of the roller and fixture.' Figure 3, a section yoft'heinside brackets, the form `necessary tobeused when i is required that they be `fastened to the jams 'of thewindow-fralne. I
Figure '4, a front elevation of the spool and bracket, showing the cord-guard;v l
Figure 5, 'an end elevation of the spool and bracket. The object of this invention is lto provide an adjust` able Window-curtain fixture that can be easily made `andfputnp, conveniently operated, and vnot liable to get ont of repair; and e i Its nature consists in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully descrbed. 13, fig. 2,representsa wooden roller, so turned as to form a spool, Q, journal Z, and to have a shoulder to i 'which a collar-plate, G, corresponding to the spooll Acollar-plate H ofthe bracket H I, is firmly tacked, and having a hole in the large end to receive the socket R.
' 'The cord M, figs; 1 and 2, is attached, by means of an orifice, tothe spool collar-plate G, a small portion of the wood being cut out of the side of the roller, back of the orifice, to allow the knot on the cord to lieiiiush with the roller. e 'Elie -roller B being originally made of sulicient length, the large end may besawed olf sc as to adjust it tm windowsA of various `widths, and-thesocket R is thenplaced securely inthe hole bored injthe end of .t11e roller.` l i i H I, iig. 2, is a bracket, so consti-noted that the socket I has a spool collar-plate, H, with a cord-guard, c'. The guard c' is designed to prevent the cord M from running into the narrow space between the jour- .nal Z andthe socket I( e socket U, when pressed intosaid'socket is held iirmly i by its own elasticity. i
` The socket R, also, serves as a guide to said spring, and aii'ords a washer against which spring T operates, fand is made larger in diameter than the socket U, so as to rotate freely around .the spring T that projects within it.
Having described my invention,
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
Therspring socket-guide R, the doublesocket O U, in combination with the cylindrical coiled spring T, roller B, 'spool collar-plate G, bracket-H I, and cord guard O', when all the parts are constructed and ar'- ranged to operate as 4herein described for the purpose specified.v
' I JOHN H. WILHELM.
