A practicable embodiment of the inven tion is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specifioation, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Atthe headof a slide A of any approved construction is arranged a chamber or housing B provided at one side with a door O and with a platform D supported on a suitable framework E a distance above the ground. The chamber B is provided with a tiltable fioor F by mounting the said floor on a transverse shaft F journaled in suitable bearings in the sides of the chamber B. A seat G is arranged a distance above the floor F and is connected at its rear end by a hinge G to the back of the chamber B, and the front end of the seat-G is connected by hinges G with the upper end of a front leg G normally resting on the floor F in front of the shaft F. On the top of the tilt-able floor F are arranged arms H adapted to engagethe back of the seat G to swing the same forwardly with a view to collapse the seat G and its leg G at the time the floor F is swung into a tilted position, as shown in Fig. 5. Springs G connecting the leg Gr with the back of the chamber B may be used to normally hold the leg G in vertical position against the arms H, but the springs Gr may be omitted.
A pin I is arranged on one side of the floor F near the front end thereof, and this pin I engage the slotted end J of a link J pivotally connected with an arm J 2 secured on a transverse shaft K journaled in suitable bearings arranged on the front of the chamber B. pa the shaft K is secured the upper end of an exit door L for the front lower portion of the chamber Band which door L is normally in a vertical position and abuts against the front end of the tiltable floor-F and projects slightly into the upper end of the slide A, as plainly shown in Fig. 2. On the shaft K adjacent the entrance door C is arranged a handle K under the control of the operator for turning the shaft K with a view to swing'the-door L into an open position and to impart a tilting motion to the floor F.
Normally the floor F is held against tilting, and for this purpose the following arrangement is made: On the shaft K is secured an arm N connected by a link N with an arm N secured on a transverse shaft N extending through the rear of the chamber 1) below the seat G, as shown in the drawings, and the shaft N is journaled insuitable bearings attached to the back of the chamber B. On the said shaft N are secured arms N adapted to engage acatch 0 connected at its upper end by hinges O to the back of the chamber B. The lower end of the catch O is pressed on by a spring 0 and normally extends over the rear end of the floor F so as to holdthe saidrear end of the floor against upward movement until the shaft K is turned and a swinging motion is given to the arms N to move the catch 0 rearwardly out of engagement with the floor F thus releasing the latter.
The operation is as followsrlVhen theparts are in the normal position shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4 and the door C is open then a person can pass readily through the open door into the chamber B to seat himself on the seat G with the feet resting on the front end of th floor F. The operator now closes the door O and swings the handle K downward so that the catch 0 is swung rearwardly to release the floor F, at the same time the door L is swung upward, and when the slotted end J engages with its upper end the pin. collapsing the seat G and the leg G, whereby the said seat and leg assume an inclined position, as shown in Fig. 5, sufficient for the person seated on the seat G to slide off the latter and the leg G onto the forward end of the tilted floor F, onto the slide A. and down the same to the lower end thereof. It will be noticed that the person seated on the seat G is, as a rule, not aware of the collapsible support, the tilting floor, the door L and the slide A, and hence when the door L is opened the floor is tilted and the seat is collapsed so that rather an unsuspected ride is given to the person. After the person has started down the slide A, the operatorswings the handle K back into vertical position to close the door L to, return the tiltable floor F to normal position and to release the catch 0 so that thelatter moves back into holding position on the'top of the In a like manner the collapsed seat G and its leg G are returned to normal position by the action of the springs Gr sothat the parts are ready for repeating the above-described performance with the next person. Inclined cleats G are preferably attached to the sides of the chamber B at the inside thereof to limit the downward swinging movement of the seat G, as will be readily understood by reference to the drawings.
In practice the seat G and its legs G extend the entire width inside of the chamber B so that the person is not liable to be injured when the seat and its leg are collapsed, as above described.
In the modified form shown in Fig. 6 av revoluble support P is provided at the upper end of the slide A at the platform D, and this revoluble support P is provided with four compartments each having'a collapsible seat G, and a tiltable floor F, the same as above described in reference to the fixed chamber B. On revolving the support P 1 the seats G and the floors F are specifically brought into alinement with the upper end of the slide A. The seat is then collapsed and the floor F is tilted to cause a erson seated on the seat to slide down the slide A.
.The same means for tilting the floor F and collapsing the seatG is used as in the device I illustrated in Figs/1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, so that further description of the same is not deemed necessary. It is understood that in this case a person passes from the platform D into the adjacent compartment and seats himself on the seat G, after which the support P is givena quarter turn so as to move this compartment in alinement with the slide A, after which the seat G is collapsed and the floor F is tilted to cause the person to slide down the slide A. While this takes place another person is seated in the com.- partment adjacent the 1platform D to be given a ride down the side A on the next quarter turn given to the support P.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. An amusement apparatus, comprising a slide, a collapsible seat at the head of the slide, and means for collapsing the said seat to deliver a person seated on the said seat to the said slide while in sliding position.
2. An amusement apparatus, comprising a slide, a chamber at the head of the slide, a collapsible seat within the said chamber, and manually-controlled means for collapsing the said seat to form an extension of the slide and to deliver a person seated on the said seat to the slide and while in sliding position. i
'3.'An amusement apparatus, comprising a slide, a chamber at the head of the slide and having an entrance and an exit in alinement with the slide, a collapsible scat within the said chamber and in alinement with the said exit and the said slide, and manuallycontrolled means for collapsing the said seatand opening the said exit to deliver a person seated on the said seat to the said slide.
4:. An amusement apparatus, comprising a slide, a tiltable floor at the head of the slide and adapted to form a continuation thereof, a collapsible seat on the said floor and facing the said slide, and means ,for simultaneously tilting the said floor and collapsing the said seat.
5. An amusement apparatus, comprising a silde, a tilt-able fioor at the head of the slide and adapted to form a continuationthereof, a collapsible seat on the said fioor and facing the said slide, a chamber inclosing the said floor and the said seat and having an entrance at one side, and a swing door at the front facing the said slide, and means for I simultaneously tilting the said floor, collapsing the said seat and swinging the said door into open-position.
6. An amusement apparatus, comprising a tiltable floor, a collapsible support having a seat and a leg, the seat being hinged at its rear end a distance above the said floor, and the said leg being hinged to the front end of the said seat, and an arm on the said floor and adapted to engage the said leg to collapse the said support.
7. An amusement apparatus, comprising a tiltable floor, a collapsible support having a seat and a leg, the seat being hin ed at its rear end a distance above the said oor, and the said leg being hinged to the front end of thesaid seat, an arm on the said floor and adapted to engage the said leg to collapse the said support, holding means to hold the said fioor normally from tilting, and manuallycontrolled means for releasing the said holding means and tilting the said floor.
8. An amusement apparatus, comprising a slide, a chamber-at the head of the slide and having a tiltable floor, an entrance door at one side and an exit door at the front facing the slide, a seat Within the chamber and hinged at lts rear end to the back of the chamber, a leghinged to the front end of the seat and adapted to normally rest on the said floor, and means for tilting the said fioor and collapsing the said seat and its leg.-
9. An amusement apparatus, comprising a slide, a chamber at the head of the slide and I a catch adapted to hold the said floor normally against tilting,
and manually-controlled means connected with the said front door, the said floor and the said'catch to open the door, to tilt the floor and to collapse the said seat and its leg. In testimony whereof I havesigned my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
