UNITED SAENT onmc HENRY L. FEBRIS, OF HARVARD, ILLINOIS, ASSIG-NOR TO HUNT, HELM, FERRIS & COMPANY, OF HARVARD, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
STALL CONSTRUCTION.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I HENRY L. FERRIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Harvard, in the county of McHenry and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stall Construction, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to certain new and useful im rovements in stall construction, and is ful y described and explained in the specification and shown in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of the end of a stall embodying my construction, and Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings, 3 is a bottom bar of a stall-end and 4 is an inverted U- shaped member attached thereto and forming therewith the end proper. Supported at the upper end of the member 4, preferably by a swivel, is a stanchion 5 which may be of any desired form. Mounted upon the lower bar 3 of the stall-end are brackets 6 connected by a chain 7 to the center of which the lower end of the stanchion is secured preferably by a swivel of obvious construction. This arrangement is such that providing a very slight amount of slack in the chain 7, the lower end of the stanchion can be freely swung back and forth while the upper end ,is held in a relatively immovable position, and neither end of the stanchion can be substantially moved transversely of the frame.
I am aware that considerable variation is possible in the details of the preferred form Specification of Letters Patent.

of construction herein shown, andv I therefore do not intend to limit myself thereto, except as ointed out in'the following claims, in whic it is my intention to set forth all the 'novelt inherent in the construction as broadly as'is permitted by the state of the art. I
Iclaim as new and desire .to secure by Letters Patent-e v 1. In a stall-construction, a stall end- ;frame, comprising an inverted U-shaped member, a bottom bar to which the said member are connected, a flexible transverse member, means on said bottom bar to which the ends of said flexible transverse memberare adjustably secured, and a stanchion having its upper endsecured to the U-shaped member, and its lower end secured to the'flexible transverse member, for the purpose set forth.
2. In combination a fixed 'stallend-frame, a stanchion secured to the upper end thereof, a flexible member to which the lower end of the stanchion is secured, and adjustable clamps on the lower portion of the stall end-frame to which the ends of said flexible member are connected whereby the tension thereof may be adjusted, forthe purpose set forth.
