is a f ther object of the invention to et. the back of the head and neck of the permanently attached tothe cap.V ke invention consists in the matters and defined in. the appended claims.
the'drawings: Adigure l is a side elevan or the inuiicr and face protector c a to afford a peripheral roll .for the "t" f2 a vertical,` central section of j i. 'g1 E is ay top plan View thereof, the muiilcr and face protector folded lne cap, fl is a side elevation, g the face protector and vnutiier in ontlelcvation4 thereof.
Jhe drawings: lf, indicates a The Ina- ',ed a knit or i, of course, the important. lConino nach portion of the gin, is a downtnrning Yet and cover the l at d andlnf. it. and when not in Such proteetorfto afford the back roll n. fold 2, entends oneach for a sufficient distance to "when turned downwardly, il? are integrally connected f .f-:uitabie material.
ir li object of this invention is to afford a can to afford an' ornamental band or roll by means of a suitable protector andna'iter described and more fully pointed a device embodying my invention,
ed to tit to the head and conat the frontends thereof and extend down wardly, one'on each side of the cap, and as shown, of a length to foldv forwardly around thc Vneck-to afford a muflier to protect the neck and throat and chest, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. Each of said tabs is provided on its inner edge with a button lt, (ornamental or otherwise) adapted to engage the inner edge of the other of said tabs to close the muiiler beneath the chin. c
Connected at eachend on the lower margin of the cap and at the front thereof on each side of the center, is 'a face protector 5, and as shown, the cap is provided in the front sidel thereof with a transverse slot or opening therethrough for theeyes, which is positioned somewhat above the lower edge of the cap when the protectors are rolled upwardly, so that when the face protector is Aturned downwardly and the cap is drawn further down on the head, a portion of the body of the cap below said opening forms a part of the face protector, thereby affording a relatively wide face protector When opened, but necessitating a comparatively narrow roll whenclosed.
As shown, abuttondornamental or otherwise, is provided on each side of the cap at suitable points to engage the upper corners of the face protector when turned upwardly shown in Figs. 1 and. l'n a similar A manner upper and lower buttons 7 and 8,'a1'e provided at the rear side of the cap and centrally and buttons 9, are provided on each side thereof, the latter above and at the rear of the corner, so that when the .protector 2, for the back of the head is turned upwardly, it may be engaged in place at the back with the buttons 7 and 8, engaging tlncrethrough and also by means of the buttons 9, engaging therethrough near the ends thereof. The tabs or-apron pieces 3, of the 'muillen are then folded obliquely and rearwardly, as shown in Figs. `1 and. 3, and'at the fold firmly engaged on the top binding buttons 9, and at. the rearv overlap each other as shownin Fig. 3, and are engaged at their ends on thebuttons 7 and-8, thus firmly. engaging the' same in place and completing the lback -roll of the cap. In thisl form when so arranged, the protectors and muffler-'afford an -ornamental band orroll --around the bottorn of the cap and, of course, may be-of any suitable color or material desired.

In a device of the class described a cap adapted to fit the head and having a view aperture therethrough in the front thereof, a face protector connected around the bottom of the cap at thc front thereof and bclow the View aperture and adapted to fold upwardly over the aperture to conceal the same when not in use, buttons on the cap to engage the face protector in closed position, a muffler and protector for the neck and back of the head, connected around the rear half of the cap and secured thereto to -afford a bottom roll around the periphery when not in use, and buttons at thc rear of the cap and on cach side thereof to sccnre said protectors and muilers in place l around the bottom of the cap.
In testimony whereof have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
` ALEXANDER C. Ylllliihl. lVitnesses Cinemas 'W'. HILLS, Jr., LMVRENCE Rmns'rmN.
When itis desired to use the muffler and protectors, the cap,- is drawn farther upon the head., so that a slot in the front of the cap is opposite the eyes, and the face pro` tector is turned downwardly, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. The protector 2, for the and the'muftler tabs drawn forwardly, covends of the face protector, and confining the same to the face, and thence are drawn downwardly beneath the chin and buttoned inplace, thus firmly securing the cap in head and nek, and also affording a. protective covering for the front portion of the chest.
Of course, if desired, any suitable attach ing means may be provided for engaging the face protector to the forward edges of to those before described. Ordinarily, the cap is made of a' suflicient depth to permit the sameto. be drawn somewhat further upon the head when the muffler and protectors are in use, andfor the purpose of confining, the
slightly reduced or restricted by the mufHer pad when drawn rearwardly and attached upon the button therefor at the rear and sides ofthe cap. Whether constructed of crocheted or knitted fabric or any other material or fabric, it is desirable that the material affording the protector 2, for the back of the head, be sufiiciently elastic in parts to permit the' same to conform to the and back of the neck ily wit-hout discqmfortto the wearer.
While I. have shown a yarn and knitted fabric, o-f course, it is to be understood that any suitableA materials may be used without departing from the principles of this invetion.
claim' as my invention: I
