Letters Patent No. 105,656, dated July 26, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN CRAMP-HOOK FOR TELEGRAPHIC-WIRE INSULATORS.
. The schedule referred to in these Letters Patent; and makinz mm: of the same To all whom it may concern Be it known thatI, \VILI lraM RID sonar, of the";
city ofPhiladelphizi, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Cramp-Hook for Telegraph-wire Insulators and 1 do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact, description of the same, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use my invention, reierence being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part; of this specification, and in which A represents a telegraph-wire insulator.
B the hook. projecting down from the inside thereof,'and supporting the wire 0. I
The object of this invention is to prevent the wire from being dragged oh the supporting-hook by upward strains.
Heretofore the supporting-hooks have been constructed so as to prevent the wire from falling, but not; so as to prevent it from heinglifted oil them but, where a. telegraph-pole is on much lower ground than the poles next on each side of it, or where, for any reason thewire happens to he suspended from two points which are higher than the intermediate point of suspension, the iensi'm of the wire between the higher points is apt to lift itofl' the lowerintermediate point.
To prevent such displncemcntl construct my improved cramp-hook so as to afford a bearing for the wire both above and below. By this means the wire is not only supported against falling oil, but also held down against upward strains arisin from any cause w hatever.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by LettersPat-ent ot'the United States, .is--
The improved cram p-hook for telegraph-wire insulators, constructed as described.
