ALVA J. DOWDLE, OF DES MOINES, IOVTA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO CHARLES DEXI-IEIMER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
CABINET.
b all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALvA J. DownLn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cabinets of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement sirably formed to operate simultaneously,
but which are individually constructed to designate various amounts.
An essential feature of my invention resides in the fact that the delivery mecha nism, the shearing device and the stamping medium are all operated from a single operating knob. The delivery device desirably comprises a plurality of cooperative feeding rolls which are operated by the rotation of the knob mentioned and further, the knob is desirably adapted to reciprocate a frame carrying stamping devices and carrying a shearing blade.
In addition, I provide an inclosing casing structure with a door having a pocket upon its inner surface for the reception of shaving paper.
The preferred embodiment of my invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which similar characters of reference designate corresponding parts, and in which Fi ure 1 is a front elevation of my cabinet. Fig. 2 is an end elevation partly broken away and showing the frame carrying the stamping units and shearing blade, Fig. 3 is an end elevation further broken away to show the interior mechanism of my improved form of cabinet. Fig. 4 is a sectional View taken on line 44 of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 3, Fig. 6 is a detail view showing the shearing blade and its manner of mounting upon Specification of Letters Patent.

its reciprocating carrier frame, as well as its relation to a complemental shearing blade, and, Fig. 7 is a detail view showing the form of shelf and stamp desirably used in efi ecting the stamping operation.
The casing 1 is desirably of ornamental form and of such a shape that advertising material may be disposed thereon in an effective manner. It desirably comprises a door 2 mounted at its lower end upon a horizontal hinge and having an operating knob 3. Upon the interior of this door there is provided a pocket member 1 having its upper end open and constructed for the reception of shaving paper. l/Vithin the casing there is provided a bracket structure 5 preferably of right-angular form and constructed for the reception of a roll 6 of ticket paper in strip form. The free end of this roll is desirably extended between rollers 7 and 8. The lower roller 8 is preferably provided with a stationary journal upon its shaft 9 and the upper roller 7 is held in operative relation therewith by tension springs 10 connected to the vertical movable journal shaft 11. The shaft 9 of the lower roller is extended and provided with a pulley member 12. This roller is further arranged with a ratchet 13 rigidly secure-cl upon one end thereof as at 13 which ratchet is prevented from rearward rotation by a spring pressed pawl 14 carried upon an arm 15 of the main supporting bracket 16 of which there are two of complemental form.
The stamp carrying frame is shown at 17 as mounted just within the end wall of the casing and comprises a plurality of regularly arranged stamps 18 constructed for cooperation with stationary shelves 19 carried by the end wall of the casing. In addition this frame 17 is-connected by a bolt 20 extending through the end wall and plate 21 with a blade member 22 sliding in a guiding element 23 and cooperating with a complemental blade 24:.
In the forward end of the casing there is pivotally disposed a bracket 25 having its pivotal support near one end as at 26 and being connected as at 27 with the reciproeating frame 17. The other extremity of the bracket 95 is desirably constructed to carry a driving pulley 28 which is operatively connected to the pulley 12 by a belt 29. This end of the bracket :25 is normally held upward in position to properly tension the belt by a coiled spring 30. This pulley 28 is constructed for rotation and is rotated by the shaft 31 and knob It will be seen that rotation of the knob 32 will serve to drive the belt 2!) and transmit rotation through the pulley l2 and lowerroller 8, which serves to deliver the ticket through the opening between the shearing blades. W hen a sutiicient length of ticket is fed out, the knob may be depressed, which will serve to SOYQI' the ticket, The ticket may then be inserted into another one of the openings 34-, admitting the same to one of the stamping shelves, which openings 3% are properly designated to indicate the desired amount. It depression of the frame will operate to stamp the ticket and consequently designate the selected amount due.
It will thus be apparent that I have provided a compact and simple device which may be readily manipulated to feed the ticket. serer the same and subsequently stamp the amount due thereon. It will further be noted that there is provided a readily accessible pocket for shaving paper.
W' hat I claim, is-
1. A cabinet comprising superposed dispensing rollers, a driving handle operati ely connected to one of said rollers, a stationary shearing blade, and a complemental reciprocatory shearing blade con trolled by said handle whereby tape may be dispensed and severed by independent op erations by rotating and subsequently de- Pl'QSSlIlg said handle.
A cabinet comprising superposed dispensing rollers, a resiliently held bar pivoted at oneend and carrying an operating handle on its free end, a shearing device controlled by said handle, an operating wheel mounted on said handle, a complemental wheel mounted on one of said rollers, and a driving connection between said wheels whereby tape may be dispensed and seyered by rotation and subsequent depression of operating handle.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
