To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, CHARLES R. PHILLIPS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Richmond, in the county ofHenrico and State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Telephone Attachment, of which the' following is a Specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in telephone attachments, the primary so constructedas .not to interfere with the admission of sound waves tothe diaphragm of the transmitter but at. the same time. proreceptacle 3 with the fiat portions beyond vide a means to permit the eifusion'of a dis infectant both exteriorly and interiorly of the tube, thus providing a means which overcomes thedisag'reeable odors attendant to the use of transmitter tubes by many persons.

A further object of the present invention is the provision of a novel form of attach-- ment which'is readily secured in place upon the rim of the tube and which may be very" quickly removed for renewal of the disin-. fectant and absorbent material. I

Vith the foregoing and'other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds the invention-resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of constructionhereinafterdescribed and claimed, it being understood that changes'in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosedcan be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of theinvention.

Referring to the drawings, T designates the transmitter tube, upon whose rim is adapted to be snapped, the spring terminals 1 of the attachment, .said terminals being formed integral with the body portion 2 which is preferably made from a slngle. sheet of metal and bent to form the annular provlded with the apertures & to permit of Specification of Letters Patent. and parallel with the rim of the tube and the effusion of the liquid disinfectant contained orheld in suspension within the absorbent ring 5, all as clearly shown in F ig..3.

Each of the springarms 1 is provided with the depressed portions or eyes 10,-

through which is threaded a flexible connection such as 6, which provides a means to fixedly yet detachably connect the attach mentto the tube, said'flexible connection 6 assuming the position as shown in Fig. 1.

Formed integralwith the rim 2, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, is an annular plate or disk 7, which is adapted to have displayed thereon. advertisements and which also acts as'a deflecting medium to assist i-n the concentration of the sound'waves within the tubeT.

In the form. of attachment as shown in Figsf l and 5, a single blank of metal B is employed, and the same is stamped to provide the annular" rim 2 which is constructed similarly to that shown in Fig. 3, with the usual clamp 1,.while instead of having an annular. disk 7, a segmental disk 8 which is a. portion of the blank, as clearly shown in Fig. 5, is bent to assume the position as shown in Fig. 4, and which in reality if out- T in section, would be shown similarly to that shown in Fig. 3.

i The disks 7 and 8, have printed or otherwise displayed thereupon advertising matter, and as the device is exceedingly cheap of manufacture, it may be given away to be usedupon telephones and display the advertisement of the donor. It is also evident that other materials than metal may be used as the device may be molded or stamped from paper, p apier mach or similar materials.

From the foregoing description. taken in connection with the drawings, it is evident that an attachment made according to the present invention, is very simple and cheap to construct, and by reason of the spring clamps 1 and the wire 6, the same is readily attached to the tube T.
