To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WALTER M. SCHWARTZ, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Fabric-Driers, of which the following is a specification.

The object of my invention is to construct a simple and effective device for drying knitted fabrics, and particularly stockings. This object I attain by making the form, on which the fabric is placed, in such a manner that it can be directly heated'by water or steam.

A is a table.

B, B are the forms mounted on the table, preferably at the angle illustrated in Fig. 2,

although the angle may vary according to` the desire of the user. These forms are made hollow, as illustrated in Figs. 3, 4 and 5, and preferably made of copper, although other material may be used. The forms are shaped in the present instance to conform to a stocking to be dried, and they may be of such size, contour and construction as to accommodate stockings, socks and similar articles of wearing apparel of the different shapes and sizes.

C is a hot water or steam pipe through which the fluid is supplied to the interior of the forms, and D is the exhaust pipe which is connected to the exhaust side of each form.

In'order to insure the proper circulation of' water through the forms, I preferably place a partition b at the center of each form. This partition, in the present inL stance, is made tubular and is open at the extreme upper end, and is provided at its lower end with a drip cock b', so as to relieve the form of any entrapped air.

The form, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is secured to a casting F attached to the underside of the table A, and the pipes C and D are coupled to the casting in any suitable maner, and in each coupling are valves c' and d, respectively, so that any one of a series of forms can be cut out if repairs are necessary.

I claim 1. The combination, in a drying device, of a hollow. form, a table, a castino' carried by the'table and connected to said hollow form, an inlet and an outlet in said casting for the circulation of a heated fluid, a partition within said form roviding independent spaces communicating with said inlet and outlet, and a pair of pipes independently connected to said inlet and outlet.

2. The combination, in a device for dryinfr stockings and other fabric structures, of a ollow form upon which a stocking is mounted, a casting to which said form is connected, a table supporting said casting and form, inlet and outlet pipes connected to said castin and providing for the delivery to and ischarge from said structure of a heated. fluid, a hollow partition Within said form whereby circulation of the heated medium is provided for, said partition stopping short of'the end of the form, and a valve at the lower end of said hollow partition whereby the same mayserve as a venting means.

3. A drying mechanism for hosiery and like tubular fabrics, comprising a pair of pipes, connecting fittings for said pipes, each provided with a plurality of passageways with spaced-apart vertical exits through the upper wall of the fitting, and hollow vert-ically-partitioned formers each secured to one of said fittings and forming a communicating passage-way between said spaced-apart exits.
