LAMP-BRACKET.
specification of Letters ratenraiemed Ma r. 4., 1913.
I Application filed March 29, 1312. Serial No. 687,083.
To all lwho/n z' may concern."
Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. ANKLAM,
a citizen ofthe United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county otVsayne and State of Michigan, haveinvented eertain'new and' useful Improvei'nents in Lamp- Brackets, of which the foliowing is a. speciapertured to receive the shank `of the support andare fastened thereto by a set-screw. One of the objects of the present invention is to substitute for this case metal structure, a structure which may be formed of sheet.
metal stampings, and a further object is 'to' arrange the setserew forl clamping the bracket to the holder so that it is operated from the interior'otl the lamp. This renders the unauthorized detachment of the lamp .more diiiicult. In the ldrawings,--Fi,f 'ure 1 is a vertical section through a portion Vof the lamp casing with thebracket or securing device attached thereto; Fig. 2 is a perspective v iew of one of the members of the securing device; and Fig. 8 is a' similar view of the coperating member.
A is a sheet metal' stamping which is formed with a projectingr socket portion B and a flange'C. The socket portion B is of suiiicient size to receive the shank ,of the lamp su port and the ends of this socket are punche at D `to form apertures for the 1nserton of the shank E.
F is the lamp case which is apertured for the 'passage -of the portion B through 'the Wall thereof, the'iiange C being arranged on the inside of said wail. The member A is then attached to the casing by soldering or riveting or otherwise suitably securing the flange C.
G is a coperating member for insertion within the recess of the socket portion B, said member being in thev form of a sleeve for engaging the shank E and having a 'setscrew H for clamping the shank. yThe member Gies"l preferably struck up from a sheet metal blank z xndthe-lmrtion through which thc'sct-screw passes is provided with a -reinforcement I hrazcd or otherwise secured thereto amihar-ing a threaded aperture for the .set-screw.
'ith the construction as described in use, the member (i is'inserted in the recess of the member A from the inside of the lamp, and the. shankll is then passed through the aperturesl) -and the sleeve. By tighteningthe 'set-.screw Il the meber (i is rigidly clamped to the shank and thereby prevents disengagement of the same from the member A. When the lamp door is closed the securing means is concealed and inaccessible.
'hat l claim as my invention is;
1. A securing bracket for lamps compris# ing a socket member fixed to the lamp case having an inwardly opening recess, aneX- terna] aperture for the reception of the supporting shank, and a sleeve member insertible in sald recess havlng means for securing the same tosaid shank.
2. In a lamp, the combination with a case and the support shank, of a socket member fixed to .said case opening inward thereinto' and having ancnternally project-ing portion 'apcrtured for the reception of saidshank, a' sleeve insertible in said recess to engage said shank, and clamping means for securing said sleeve to said shank. r
In, a lamp, the'combination with a case and the supportin g shank thcreforpof a sheet metal stai'nping l'iaving a hollow projecting portion forminga lug apertured forthe reception of said shank and anged for secur- 'ing to said ease, a sleeve lmember insertible in saidi-iollow port-ion for engagement with lsaid shank, and elaniping means for secur-l ing saioslecve membcrto theshank.
4.k ln a lamp, the 'combination with a eas ing and the supporting shank, of a Sheet` met al stfunping for the hollow portion projecting outward 'to form' a' lug aperturcd for the recept-ion oi' said shank and iangcd for engagement with said case on the inner side (hereof` a sleeve insertible from within said case. into said hollow member and engagcable by said shank, and a' set-screw for clamping .said sleeve `to said shank.
5. In a iamp, the combination with a case and the supporting shank,.of a sheet metal stamping for the hollow projecting portion' forming a-lug apertured for the reception of e' said shank, and a flange portion' engagina' 11a if.
the inner face of the case, a sheet metal member sld-ncl; up to fol-1nu Sleeve nsertble in said hollow portion und engageable with said slmnlg'n reinforcement for said sleeve, 1
:1nd :x Set-screw pushing. through said reinforcement :1nd clamping the sleeve to said Shank.
(5. ln n lump, the Combination with a. case and u Supporting shank therefore, of a sheet metal stnmpmg hnvlng a hollow pro3eot1ng poltlon fornung a lug' aoertured for the rel r l l In testimony whereof I nflx my Signature in presence of two witnesses.
