Port- L The, invention aims to provide novel means for connecting the rail holding members which are embedded in the body portion of the support; and to providel novel means for holdingthe said members in place in the body.
Another object of the invention is to provide' rail braces of novel form and to provide novel means whereby the same may be connected with a member which is embeddedI partiallyin the body portion of the support.
Another object of the invention is to increase the utility of devices of that type to Which the present invention appertains.

In carrying out the invention there is provided a base 1 Which preferably is fashioned Afrom conc-rete. The secondary flange G overhangs the rail plate 3 and overhangs the llange of the rail 4, so as to hold the flange of the rail 4 down upon the rail plat-e 3 and. to prevent the rail 4 from moving transversely of the base` l. The upper portion of that primary flange 5 lwhich is connected with the secondary flange 7 constitutes an abutment for one edge of the flange of the rail 4, soas to maintain the other edge of the flange of the rail engaged beneath the secondary flange 6 of the opposite angle member. l
Tubes 8 extend through the base 1 and through the flanges 5 of the angle members. The tubes 8 exercise four functions. First, theyserve to reinforce the base 1; second.
as they pass through the iianges 5 of the angles members, they constitute means for holding the angle members in the base 1; third, they serve to receive ties 9 whereby the base members may be connected transversely of the track; and fourth, they serve' nuts 10 which, being threaded upon the ties 9, permit the bases 1 to be moved longitudinally of the ties 9. thereby permitting the gage of the track to be changed. The members 10, furthenserve at a fixed distance apart.
The invention further includes braces 11. These braces 11, preferably, are located ad- `jacent the ends of vthey rail 4. Each brace 11 vterminates in an upstanding foot 1Q abutting against the side face of the Web-of the rail'4, the foot 12 beingv attached to the web of the rail by means of securing elements 14. The brace 11 terminates in a hook 15 engaged around the secondary flange 7 of one angle member, as shown most clearly in Fig. 6. .Securing elements 16 which may be rivets or the' like, pass through the flange 7 and through the hook 15, to hold the braces 11 in place. @ther braces 18 are provided, the,

The braces 18 bear upon the upper face ot the flange of the rail .4. the braces 18 being extended through openings 1'? formed in the flange o ofV that angle member which is provided with secondary flange 7. The braces 18 terminate in hooks 19 which eX- tend upwardly around the flange 7, the hooks 19 being secured to the flange 7 by means of attaching elements 20 which may be rivets or the like.
In practical operation, the rails 4 are strung along the track upon the outside thereof. The rails are then thrown inwardly by bars, or otherwise, until the flanges of the rails engage beneath the members 6, the flanges -of the rails dropping down upon the rail plates 3. The rail braces 11 and 18 are then connected with the secondary flange 7 through the medium4 of the securing elements 16 and 20, the securing elements 14:A being mounted in place in the web of the rail t and in the feet 12 'of the braces 11. Thereupon, the rails will be held securely in place upon the bases 1. To change the gage of the track, it is necessary merely to manipulate the nuts 10.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is l.v A rail support comprising a base;
angle members including primary flanges i embedded m the base and secondary flanges extended in a common direction transversely of the base; and a rail brace connected with one secondary flange.
2. A rail support comprising a base;
angle members including primary flanges embedded in the base and secondary flanges,
the secondary flange of one angle member extending toward the longitudinal center of the base and the secondary flange of the other member extending awayI from its longitudinal center ofjthe base; and a rail en gaging element .assembled with the last specified flange.
3. A -rail support comprising a base;-
angle members comprising primary flanges partially embedded in the base and secondary flanges extended in a common direction transversely of 'the base; a portion of the primary flange of one angle member con stituting an abutment to maintain the web.

rail holding element extended through 'the opening and provided with a hoo-k engaging the secondary flange which is adjacent the opening; and means for connecting the hook with said secondary flange.

A rail support including. a base; angle members including primary flanges embedded in the base and secondary flanges extended in a common direction transversely of the base; a rail holding element superposed upon one secondary flange; and means for connecting thel rail holding element with said secondary flange.
7. A rail support including a base; angle members including primary flanges embedded in the base and secondary flanges eX- tended transversely of the base; the primary flange of one angle member being provided with an opening; a rail holding element mounted in the opening and extended transversely of thel adjacent secondary flange; and means forconnecting the rail holding elements with said secondary flange. g
