'cniusT, a resident of Newark, in the county and designs, to rovide improved mechanism for operating t e presser-members; .to pro` vide improved mechanismfor tilting the A-lnernber on which the article from which the juice tobe extracted is held, for convenience in placing the article on said member, or to discharge or remove it therefrom; to protide an improved means by which the pulp will, during the pressngoperation be r'ected outwardly from the center of the lemon and inwardly from the outer edge thereof, so that the pulp will be disposed where the juice will be extracted therefrom by the rotation of one of the members with respect to the other, as distinguishedfrom a device in which the pul is directed to the center, wherein such action does notresult: and further to provide a lemon squeezer ofl improved construction.
The invention consists in the several novel features hereinafter set forth'and more particularly defined by claims at the conclusion hereof.

The holder is provided with backwardly ext-ending lugs 27 at the upper and lower ends of which are journaled upper guiderollers 28 and lower guide-rollers 2 9, which areV adapted to travel in guide-ways 30 formed in each side of the case, one pair of these rollers being disposed at each side of the lugs and these rollers are mounted on cross-pins 31 secured in the lugs on the holder. The lower portion of each of these guide-ways is curved backwardly as at 30*1 to cause the holder and presser-member held thereby. to be tilted downwardly. so that during the lower portion of the stroke of the operating-mechanism` thel holder and pressmember held therein` will be tilted to discharge the lemon held thereby or to facilitate the insertion oi the lemon and the removal of the lemon-rind, and during the upper part of such stroke it will travel vertically. Resultantly. when the holder is in normal position, as shown in Fig. 1, it will be conveniently disposed to receive a section of a lemon, and during the operation of the holder, it will be raised and brought into proper position for the pressing operation beneath presser-member 13 and. after each pressing operation, the holder will be tilted downwardly sufficiently to cause the squeezed rind to fall ofi' of presser-member 20 or to facilitate its removal. At the lower end of guides 30, abutments 33 are disposed to'arrest the rollers 29 and limit the downward and tilting movement of the holder.
A lever yor handle 36 is provided for operating the squeezer.` This lever is secured to the outer end of a shaft 37 which is journaled in a bearing 38 formed in the bodysection of frame 11. An oblique toothed gear 39 is integrally formed with shaft 38 and is disposed within the case. The oblique teeth of this gear mesh with worm-teeth 40 formed on shaft 14 of presser-member 13 to cause the latter to be rotated 'horizontally when wheel 39 is rotated by the lever, the shaft being secured against horizontal movement by the thrust-bearing 17 and in 19, asy

Wheel 39 is provided with a step 48 to arrest it when it encounters link 45, as shown in Fig. 2 and serves to arrest the movement of wheel 39 and the operating-lever. It will thus be seen that this connection constituted of linkmembers,operates asa flexible connection bctween wheel and the holder 21 and this connection will be differentially operated V during the operation of the lever to effectively apply the power for a squeezing operation. The holder, being guided vertically, will descend by gravity during the retractionl of the operating lever. l

In Figs. 6 and 7 there is shown a modified formof the invention, in which the longitudinally movable oressermember and holder are tilted slightly to facilitate pleo ingr a lemon therein, this modification different from ,that already described in that the guides for the rollers lon the holder are cinwcd slightly to .tiltthe holder merely sufficiently to permit a section ofthe lemon to be placed therein and the presser-member 20 Ihas a complete surrounding wall 22? for holding the lemon and rind on the member 20.

Having ,thus described .the invention,\vl1at I claim as new and desire .to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. ,In Ia squee/.en the combination of a frame, two thereon, one of said members being movable ,relatively to the other, an operating lever. means operated by the lever for rotating one of the members, and a connection for ,operating the other .ofsaid members by the lever, said connection being llexible between ,the point at which it is connected to the member operated thereby and Ithe -point where il is connected to the lever.
2. In a squcezer, qthe ,combination of two presser-members, one of which is movable relatively Ato .the other. an operating lever, ,a flexible connection yfor operating `one of said members by the lever, and means for .causing lsaid connection to operate differentially in shifting the latter member. i
3. In a squeczer. the combination ,of two presser-members. one of which is movable relatively to the other, an operating lever, a gear-connection for rotating one of said members, and a connection between said lever and om` of said i'nelnbers said connection bein;r flexible ,between its ends.` A

6. ln a squeezer, the combination of two presser-members, one of which is movable relatively to the other, an operating lever, a flexible connection for operating ,one of said members by they lever, the member operated bysaid connection being mounted to be shifted in one direction` by gravity, and means for causing the connection to operate di'erentially in shifting the member operated thereby.
7. ln a squeezer, the combination nt two presser-members, one of which is movable relatively to the other, an operating lever, a gear connection for rotating one of said members. and a connection for operating one of said members by the lever, the latter member being mounted so it will be lowered by gravity said connection being flexible between its ends.
8. In a squeezer, the combination of two presser-members, one of which is movable presser-members, one of which is movable relatively to the other, an operating lever, a connection for rotating one of said members by the lever. and a connection for operating the other of said members comprising a plurality of serially connected links.
10. In a sqneezer, the combination of two presseremembers, one of which is movable relatively to the other, an operating lever, a connection for operating one of said members comprising a plurality of connected links, and means for causing the connection to operate said member differentially.
11. ln a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a pair of cooperating presser-members, one of which is movable to and from the other, an operating lever pivoted in the frame, a connection between said lever and a presser-member comprising a plurality of connected links, and means for causing one of the links to travel in fixed relation to the lever the latter link being pivoted to the lever at a point eccentric to the lever fulcrum, and swinging into position to cause the leverto act on the connection with a greater leverage.
12. ln a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a pair of cooperating pressermem bers, one of which is movable to and from the other, an operating lever pivoted in the trame, a connection between said lever and Losses@ a movable member comprising a plurality of connected links, and an abutment operated by the lever for engaging one of the links to cause the connection to operate differentially.
13. In a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a pair of coperating presser-members, one of which is movable to and from the other, an operating lever pivoted in the frame, and a connection between said lever and one of said members consisting of a plurality of differentially operating connected links, and a gear-connection for rotating one of said members.
14. ln a squeezer, the combination of two presser-members, one of which is movable relatively to the other, an operating lever, a connection for operating one of said members comprising' a plurality of links, means for causing the connection to operate said member dierentially, and a' gear-connection operated by the lever for rotating one of the members.
15. In a squeezer` the combination of a frame, a pair of cooperating` presser-members, one of which is movable to and from the other, an operating lever pivoted in the frame and a connection between said lever and a movable member consisting of a plurality of connected links, means for causing one of the links to travel in fixed relation to the lever, and a gear-connection operated by the lever, for rotating one of the members.

In a sqneezer, the combination of a frame, a lever pivoted in the frame, a presser-member held against longitudinal movement in the frame, a shaft connected to said member, a worm gear on said shaft, a gear operated by said lever and engaging the worm on the shaft to rotate said member, another pressermember longitudinally slidably mounted to move to and from the rotating member, anda connection between the lever andthe longitudinally movable member, for bringing it to and from the `rotating member said shaft and worm being disposed in front of said gear.
17. In a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a lever pivoted in the frame, a presser member held against longitudinal movement in the frame, a shaft connected to said member, a worm gear on said shaft, a gear operated by said lever and engaging the wornon the shaft to rotate said member, another presser member longitudinally movable to and from the rotating member, and a serial linkage between the lever and the longitudinally movable member said shaft and worm being disposed in front of said gear.
18. ln a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a lever pivoted in the frame, a rotatable presser-member, gear mechanism operated by the lever, for rotating said member, a longitudinally movable presser-mem;
erated by the lever, for rotating said mem' ber, a longitudinally movable presser-member `operativel connected to said lever, rollers on the atter member and guided -in said frame, and means for tilting the longitudinally movable member.
21. In a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a lever pivoted to the frame, a rotatable presser-member, gear mechanism operated by the lever, for rotating said mem-V bera longitudinally movable presser-member, a link-connection between the lever and said` longitudinally movable member, and means for tilting said member as it 1s operated by said connection.
22. In a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a lever pivoted in the frame, copresser-members, one of which is longitudlnally movable, guides -in said frame, means on said latter member sliding in said guides and for guiding and tilting said longitudinally movable member, and a conection between said longitudinally movable member and the lever.

In a squeezer, the combination' ofja frame, a lever pivoted iu the frame, coperatingl presser-members, one of which 1s longitudinally movable and guides in said frame for guiding and tilting said longitudinally movable member, rollers on said member traveling in said guides, and a connection between said longitudinally movable member and the lever.
24. In a squeezer, a conoidal presser-member having a series of tangential ribs diserating posed to direct the pul voutwardly from the` central ortion thereo and a sones of ribs, dispo to direct the pulp inwardly from the outer portion thereof.

In a squeezer, the combination of a lever, a pair of coperating presser-members, one of which is operated by the lever to bring them together mechanism operated by the lever for rotating one of the members, one of said members having a series of 'tangentially disposed ribs for directing the pulp outwardly from the center thereof, and a series of oppositely disposed ribs for directing the pu p adjacent the outer portion of the member inwardly.

In a squeezer, the combination of a lever, a pair of cooperating presser-members, one of which is operated'by the lever to brin the members together, mechanism operate by the lever for rotatin one of the members, one of said members Iiaving a series of tangentially disposed ribs for directing the pulp outwardly from the center thereof, and a series of opposily disposed ribs for inwardly directin the pulp adjacent the outer portion of t e member, said member having a groove between the inner and outer series of ribs.
28. In a squeezer, the combination of a frame, a'. lever pivoted in the frame, a vertically extending shaft journaled in the frame and extended above the frame, a rotatable presser-'member connected to the lower end of said shaft, a removable pin for holding said presser-member in operative position and extending through the shaft above the frame, saidmember being free to fall downwardly when the pin is removed, a earconnection between said lever and said aft,
