Be it known that I, ELB'ERT Q. Ga'rrEY's,

Booneville, in the county of Prentiss and vState of Mississippi, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Burglarl Alarms,"ofwhich the following is -a speci- My invention relates to burglar alarms and particularly to' alarms. for use with windows or doors whenit is desirable to have ventilationthrough the windows or doors,

and the object is to provide certain simple and inexpensive appliances which will be` operated easily, and with accuracy by the window sash and which is adapted for use on windows provided with upper and lower 'sash whichy can be lowered and raised respectively for ventilation, and which will give an ,alarm on the movement of either window sash.

Other objects and advantages will be fully explained in thel following description and thel invention will be morev particularlyV pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 is a section of a window frame and sash,`showing the application of theburglar' alarm applied thereto so that there may. be ventilation under the lower sash.'

The alarm can be made continuous by. an electric circuit'a'nd. bell. A battery 18 is providedarid a. wire 19` is electrically connected to one pole of the battery and to the keeper 12. A wire-20 is .electrically con'- nected to the other pole of-the battery 18.

The circuit is completed when the plunger 1s thrown by the plunger the cartridge 13. make electric connection with the keeper 12. The alarm can be used with both the cartridge 13 and without the cartridge. When `the cartridge is removed, the plunger 5 will make electric connection direct with the keeper 12, and thus cause the bell to ring. The alarm, when set, is started by the movement of either the sash 17 or sash 22.

:To set the alarm for ventilation under the lowerq sash.-Place the end of the chain 14" on the hook 16. Take hold of knob 23 and pull'on the stem 8, compressing the spring 7 to full tension.
