Be it known that we, EDWARD J. KEAR- NEY and THEoDonn TRE'oKEn, citizens of the United States, residing at lVauwato'sa and West Allis, respectively, county of Milwaukee, and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Milling- Machines, ofwhich the following is a specif lication.
Our invention relates to improvements in milling machines.
` The object of our invention is to provide a rigid" over-arm structurel for milling inachines, whereby the out bearing hanger arm may be securely held in the exact position required for supporting the arbor.
In carrying out the above object, we employ a. set of parallel over-arms, with both of which the out bearing-hanger is adjustably engaged, and we also provide means whereby either one of the over-arms may be removed, either wholly or partially, inde pendently of the other, to allowA the out bearing hanger to'be swung to a position of non-use in substantiallyr the same manner as in the milling machines heretofore constructed with a single overarm.

It is also impossible for the hanger arm to swing' from side to side and cramp the arbor. It it is desired to swing,r the out bearing hanger' arm to a position of non use. as indicated by dotted lines in Fig'. 2. it is merely necessary to loosen tho clamping' bolt 13 and-push one of the over-arms 3 or 4 inwardly ,through the column cap 2. whereupon the hanger arm may be swung -upon the other over-arm to any desired position. ,and if necessary, locked in such position byfth'e inuts 14 and bolt 13. When the out bearing hanger 10 is in position of use, it will not be necessary to clamp the same in position on the overarms 3 and 4. except to prevent longitudinal movements, all lateral or swinging movements being prevented by employingr a plurality ot' over-arms. v i lVe claim- 1. The combination witha milling machine column, of a plurality of over-arms adjustably mounted in said column, and an ont bearing' hanger adaptedto support a cutter arbor and detachably engaging each of said over-arms.
