COMBINED DOOR-HANGER AND TRACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 11, 1913.
Application filed November 2, 1909. Serial No. 525,892.
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Door-Hangers and Tracks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hangers for vertically movable car doors.
An important-object of my invention is to provide novel means for hanging the graindoor, whereby the same may be easily and quickly handled.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in which like numerals are used to designate like parts throughout the same, Figure 1 is a side view of the inside face of one side of agraimcar; showing the grain-door in the position it appears when the car is loaded. Fig. 2 is an outside view of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detailed section through the track and associated elements.
Above a grain-door 9 is arranged a track 12, which is secured upon a suitable support, and comprises a flat body portion 13, upon one side of which is formed a cylindrical tubular casing 14 provided upon its inner side with a longitudinal slot 15. The body portion 13 of the track 12 is secured to the beam 2 by means of bolts 16 or the like. The grain door 9 is provided near its upper edge with U-sliaped brackets 17, within which are slidably mounted vertical rods or arms 18 of a main U-shaped supporting bracket.
The supporting rods 18, are parallel with each other and eXte-ndupwardly for cooperation with the track 12. Each of the supporting rods 18 has its upperend bent inwardly as at 20 and outwardly again to form a horizontal portion21 upon which is rotatably mounted a spherical roller 22. By reference to Figs. 1 and .3, it will be seen that the spherical rollers 22 are arranged within the tubular casing 14 and the horizontal portion 21 of the supporting rods 19 extend through the slot 15.
Having fully described my invention, I claim: i In combination, a horizontal cylindrical tubular track having one side provided with a relatively narrow longitudinal slot, a fiat strip formed upon the opposite side of the track and adapted to be attached to a suitable support, an approximately U-shaped bracket having hooked ends including horizontal portions which pass through said slot, balls rotatably mounted upon said horizontal portions and disposed to operate within the tubular track, and a door connected with the U-shaped bracket and vertically movable thereon.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses. I
JOHN w. GUY.
Witnesses:
