Be it known that l, Micnann A. lacy, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cadillac, in the county of \Vextord, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Litter-Carriers: and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention is directed to improvements in litter carriers and particularly to one adapted to travel upon an over head cable or track.

The invention has for its object to provide a carrier of this type wherein the trip operating wires may be adjusted so that the trips will he positively actuated when desired.

With these and othcr'ohjects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of onstruction. formations. combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinatter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which I Figure l is a side elevation of the device. mounted upon the bolt ll, and is adapted to bear against the upper face of the extension 13, said nut being operable to vertically adjust the said bolt. so that the tension of the cord 8 may be regulated.

It. is a well known fact that in devices of this character the trip cord for operating the weighted pin ofttimes becomes loose, thus preventing the same from being withdrawn "from engagement with the racks carried by the carriers, and it is to this end that the invention is directed, and by this construction itwill be readily seen that should this cord become slack it will only he necessary to manipulate the nut. whereupon the bolt may be adjusted to tighten the same.

After the carrier 5 has reached the place where it is desired to dump the contents thereof it is only necessary that the cords 19 be grasped and pulled, thereby rocking the trigger 17 which draws upon the cords 8, thus removing the weighted pins from engagementwith the racks 6, thus permitting the carrier to tilt.

What. is claimed 1.-ln a device of the class described comprising a carrier adapted for travel upon an elevated cable, a hanger depending from the carriage, a bail secured to the hanger. said hail being adapted to support a carrier, a trigger pivotally connected to the hanger, trip cords passable through the bail, a. plate having hooks carried by its upper end and engaging the trigger. a right a ngle extension formed upon the lower end of the plate, a bolt passable therctlnongh and to the lower end of which is secured the ends of the cords. a nut. engagin said bolt and operable to adjust the bolt to regulate the tension of the cords and means for rocking the triggerv to operate the trip cords, to permit tilting of the carrier.

2. in a device of the class described, the combination with a supporting cable. of a carriage adapted for travel thereon, a hanger depending from the carriage, a trigger pivotally mounted on the hange and having its lower end forked, a tubular bail secured to the lower end of the hanger and having its ends pivotally connected to a carrier, :(glilclltill racks carried bv the ends of the carrier and ada ted to he' engaged by weighted pins slidahly mounted in the lower ends of the. bail, trip cords passable through the bail and having their lower ends secured to the upper ends of the weighted pins, plates having their upper ends formed with hooks and adapted to engage With the forked ends of the trigger, the lower ends of said plates being provided with right angle extensions, perforations formed in the extensions, bolts passable through the perforations and having" eyes formed at their lower ends, said cords having their upper ends secured in the eyes, nuts mounted on the bolts and operable to adjust said bolts to regulate the ten- 0 sion of said cords and means for rocking the trigger to shift the trip cords, whereby said Weighted pins are disengaged from the racks MICHAEL A.
