Description
H. s. JANES. Stovepipe Damper;
Patented July 12, 1870.
tinned fitattt HENRYS. JANES, 0F ()SHKOSH, WISCONSIN.
Letters Patent No. 105,215, dated July 12, 1870.
VENTILA'IOR.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY S. JANES, of the city a of Oshkosh, State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and improved Room-Ventilator; and Ido hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked.
for regulating the admission of air.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an elbow of stovepipe with my apparatus inserted.
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section, showing the ventilating-tube and the apparatus for regulating the admission of air.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the apparatus for regulating the admission of air.
A is a stove-pipe elbow.
B is the regulating apparatus inserted in the ventilating-tube. v
B is the prolongation of the regulating apparatus,
' air and draught.
and admits of a convenient means of inserting the same in the tube. I
B is the register thatmcgulates quantity or ents off ventilation.
E E are knobs that aiiord a convenient means of working the register.
Arrows marked 2 2 show the direction of the hot Theregister being adjusted for ventilating the room, the arrows marked 3 show the direction of the currents of air escaping from the room.
The tube 0 being extended into the stove-pipe, with hot air surrounding it, ventilation would be vcry'much accelerated as a natural result.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to se c'ure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The ventilating-tube 0, when inserted into a fstove-pipe, substantially as and for the purposes set orth. 2. The regulating apparatus B, provided with a tube, B, when used inoombiuation with the ventilating-tube O, as and for the purposes set forth.
' HENRY S. JANES.
