Be it known that I, JOHN Lne R01 GinswoLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dalhart, in the county of Dallam and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Roll-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to roll holders and more particularly to that type of devices which are adapted to ho-ld rolls of absorbent cotton, bandaging material, and the like, for use in hospitals and similar places.

The principal object of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient device of this character which may be cheaply constructed, conveniently operated, and which will keep the absorbent cotton, gauze, bandaging material, or the like, in a sanitary condition.

Further objects of this invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure l is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 8 is a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section on the line l-Ll of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the covers removed. Fig. 6 is a similar View of one of the hinged leaves.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, 1 represents a supporting frame constructed of a single piece of material bent to form the yoke-shaped back 2 having in its upper end a loop 3 which may be engaged upon a nail or other suitable device to produce the structure upon the wall. The lower ends of the frame are bent at right angles to the back, as shown at 14 and secured thereto and to the back are a pair of double curved supports 5 to which are riveted or otherwise secured the roll holding casings 6 and 7, both of which are constructed in a similar manner but of different sizes, the latter one being considerably small. These casings comprise endmembers 8 connected together by a semi-circular casing 9 and a cover 10 which is in semi-circular form and is provided with side flanges 11 which overhang` the end pieces 8 when the cover is in position. These side flanges have suitable notches 12 formed therein adapted to engage the pins 13 carried upon the end pieces in position to permit the rear or high edge of the covers to overlap the rear or high edge of the semi-circular cas-.

ing 9 and the forward or lower edge to be spaced away from or with relation to the lower or front edge of the semi-circular casing, as shown in Fig. 3. These covers are provided with inwardly extending spring fingers 15 forming a continuation of the flanges 11 and having secured thereto pivoting and retaining pintles 1G which extend through apertures 17 in the end pieces and hold the covers in place and also engage the pivoting blocks 18 carried by the fabric rolls 19. The pintles, therefore, serve a double purpose, that of securing the covers in position upon the casings and also of forming a pivoting member upon which the rolls may be rotated. These fingers may be sprung away from the end pieces, as will be readily understood, so as to disconnect the pintles 16 from the rolls and from the apertures 17 thereby permitting the covers and rolls to be removed. The aperture 2O formed between the front or lower edge of the cover and the front or lower edge of the casing permits the material to be drawn out of the casing for use. Covering the openings 2O are lids 2l having side ears 22 to pivotally engage the studs 23 projecting from the side flanges 11. These lids drop by gravity so as to close the openings 20 when released.

The roll holders just described are preferably adapted to hold absorbent cotton of different widths and secured to the lid 10 Qf the casing 6 are two separate similar roll holders 24. and 25 which are removed from the frame when the lid 10 is removed from the casing 6. These holders have covers 27 and 28 and are also provided with the gravity doors 29 and 30.

It will be noticed that the device may be readily supported upon a table or may be hung up on the wall by engaging the loop with a suitable supporting device.

What is claimed is 1. In a device of the class described, a frame, a semi-circular casing secured thereon, a cover for the casing adapted to partially close the same, said casing having apertured end members, and means carried by the cover for passing through the aperture to secure the cover into position upon the casing and to afford a pivotal point for a roll of material.
