'IRAVELERS LOCK AND ALARM.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HoNonn GRONDIN, a citizen of the United States. resident of Pittsfield, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Travelers Locks and Alarms; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a side view of the invention as applied. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the invention.
The invention has relation to portable alarm locks for doors, designed for use by travelers, and it consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved door securer and alarm, which is of simple construction and easily applied.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention, the numeral 2, indicates the bottom of a door, 3, the door sill, and 4, the floor of a room.
5, indicates a narrow metallic bar, which has a downward extended front support 6, the lower end of which is provided with a wedge-form flange 7, projecting forward toward the door.
The top 8, of the bar extends backward from said support and forms a bearing for the bell 8 which is provided with a lower bolt extension 9, engaging a perforation 9 of said top. In rear of the top, the bar is inclined at 10, to provide a pressure bearing,
terminating in the downward extending spurs 11, pointed at their lower ends, said spurs being designed to engage the flooring when pressure is exerted by the foot upon the bearing 10. These spurs are preferably inclined downward and rearward.
The set off button or push pin 14:, of the alarm bell projects forward in the median line of the bar, beyond the front face of the support 6, and is therefore located above and substantially in line with the wedgeform flange 7, the latter projecting suffi- Specification of Letters Patent.

ciently in front of the button to provide for its engagement between the bottom edge of the door and the sill, without setting off the alarm.
In order to use the invention, it is placed on the floor, and its wedge-form flange inserted between the door and the sill, pressure being exerted by the foot upon the inclined bearing of the bar, this pressure serving first to push the wedge flange into its seat between door and sill, and secondly to force the spurs of the securer into the floor. Should any one attempt to open the door, this will be resisted by the wedge form flange. If however force enough is used to move the door inward, even slightly, the door will move against and operate the pushbutton of the bell and set off the alarm. Any further forcing of the door will bring it against the vertical support (3, which will become a stop bearing and serve through the engagement of the spurs 11. in the floor, to secure the door against further inward movement. This bearing formed by the support 6 also serves to protect the bell against injury through excessive thrust against the push button 14 thereof, the inward limit of movement of said button being slightly in rear of the support.
The bar is easily formed from a straight blank, and the device although of inexpensive character, is designed to be eflicient for the purposes in view.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A door securer and alarm, comprising a bent bar, having a rear inclined pressurebearing portion provided with terminal spurs, a substantially level top, an alarm bell upon said top, a front vertical support having a wedge form flange extending forward from its lower end, and a push button for said bell extending forward therefrom in substantially vertical alinement with said HONORE GRONDIN.
