To au fw hom may concern Be it known that I, HIRAM C. PARKER, a subject of the King of Great Britain, resid ing at Monte Creeke, in the Province of British Columbia and Dominion of Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Folding Tents, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to tents and particularly to a shelter tent for camping purposes.

An object of the invention is to provide a tent which may be constructed of a single piece of canvas or fabric material which may be folded flat so as to assume a very small package for storing or shipping purposes.

Another object of the invention is to provide a tent wherein the companion walls and llaps are accurately defined so as to insure the proper setting up of the tent and to enable one to readily fold the same.

Another object of the invention is to provide a tent which may be either folded flat or folded in roll form and to provide pole attaching ropes which may be secured around the body of the tent when the latter is rolled.

In the drawing forming a portion of this application and in which like letters of reference indicate similar parts in the several views Figure 1 is a perspective view of the tent showing the closure fiaps in closed position. Fig. 9. is a view similar to Fig. 1 showing the top closure fiat and one of the side closure flaps opened. Fig. 3 is a section on line 3*?) of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a section on line 4 4 of Fig. 1. The tent may be formed of fabric material. such as canvas and it is constructed of a single piece of material. and pro-vided with a top wall 1 of substantially rectangular configuration, the substantially triangular side walls 2, the side closure aps 3 and a top closure flap 1. The top wall l and the side flaps 2 of the tent are gathered longi tudinally and fold defining seams 5 are made therein as clearly shown. A similar fold or defining seam G is formed in the material be tween the front of the top wall 1 and the inner portion of the top closure flap 4. A rope is secured in the seam 6 and the ter1ninals 8 thereof are extended beyond the sides of the flap 4L for a purpose to be hereinafter described. lVith a view to reinforcing the side walls 2 and for maintaining the shape of these walls they are stitched as at 9.

Incident to tl're peculiar coniiguration of the blank, the tent, when setup as shown in Figs. 1 and Q of the drawings is of an increasing height toward its front end. The tentis relatively narrow and is designed to completely shelter a cot or like bed forming object. The sides 2 are provided with a longitudinal series of eyelets 10 through which stakes may be passed and driven into the ground to effect a proper anchorage of the tent. The lower end of the wall 1 is provided with a similar series of eyelets 11 which are also designed to receive stakes or similar anchoring devices as shown. The side closure `[laps 3 at the front of the tentare provided in their lower corners with eyelets 12. which are also adapted to receive anchoring stakes. The upper corners of the iiaps 3 are provided with cords 13 which may be tied together' when it is desired to effect a closing of the tent at the front thereof. Scams 14 are formed in the tent material at points between the walls 2 and the side closure flaps 3 so as to define the proper lines of fold between the said walls 2 and the said side flaps.

Then it is desired to pack the tent for shipment and to arrange the same in a fiat package the side flaps 3 are folded against the side walls 2. The walls 2 are then folded on each other so as to lie against the main top wall 1 of the tent. The iiap 4i is then folded onto the walls 2 and the tent folded to assume the package shown in Fig. G. If it is desired, the tent may be rolled as shown in Fig'. 7 and at such time the cord terminals S are wrapped varound the roll and tied as at 15, thereby maintaining the proper shape of the roll and insuring against the unrolling of the tent while in shipment. The poles 1G at the open front end of the tent are engaged at their upper ends against the top wall 1 and the cord terminals 8 are tied around the poles as shown in Fig. 2.
