l To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES WALKER, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Lion Works, Garford street, Poplar, E., London, England, engineer, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Relating to Stuliing-Box Packing, of Which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to packing for stuifing glands of the type in which the inner port-ion in contact with the rod is formed as a loose soft art or lip in such manner that it shall not be liable to deformation in'use.
According to the invention I provide such packing made from folds `of asbestos or other suitable cloth wound one around the other so that thus there is only 011e ed e oitv cloth eX osed, on the workinv face o theloose so part or lip at the edge thereof.

I prefer to provide 'the' packing from hemp or asbestos cloth' vforthe moderate pressure for Whichsuch a packing is more especially suited.
What I claim as my invent-ion and-desire v to secure by Letters Patent is i 1. Packing consisuiing of fabric which is rolledone'layer ar und the other so as t-o leave only one edge of the fabricexposed on the working face,vwhich rolled fabric is then folded to form a loose li and molded.
2. Packing consisting of abr'ic impregnated with a steam and water resisting substance which is rolled one layer around the other so as to leave only one edge of the fabric exposed on theworking face, which veo
