To all'whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ERNEST R. LE MAN- QUAIS, residing at Fa-iroaks, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvama, a citizen of the United States, have invented or discovered certain new and useful Improvements in Junction-Boxes for Electrical Conduits, of which improvements the following is a specification.

It is the object of the invention to pro duce-a junction-box which will be of a neat and durable construction, which will not necessitate an abrupt bending of the con ductors, and the cover of which may be easily removedand replaced without disturbing the conduits connected to the box.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a box embodying one form of the invention, shown used as a cornerbox at the junction between the ceiling and wall of a room; Fig. 2 is a rear elevation;

The box consists essentially of a body portion 1 and a cover 2, as shown in Figs. 1,2, 3' and 4, the body being secured to the wall and ceiling by screws inserted in holes 3 provided for that purpose. The apertures 4 for the conduits are suitably formed in the walls of the body, preferably by twistout sections, such sections consisting of areas partially cut from the box wall so that they may be easily twisted out by means of a pair of pliers. And it is preferred thatthe apertures 4 shall be so formed that the edge of the cover, when applied shall. form one wall of the aperture and bear against" the inserted conduibmember. 6 and 7 adjacent thereto. are materially deeper than the other wall portions, so that the conductors may be placed in the box without bending them abruptly. For

the latter purpose also the face of the cover 2 is bulged outwardly, as indicated at 9.

bent inwardly as shown at 10, to fit within the deeper rear 7 of the body, and the inner edge of the cover is also preferablyslightly slotted as shown at 11, in order to allow it to be easily slipped under projecting retaining lugs 12 formed on or secured to the edge of the wall 8. At the front the cover is secured to the body of the box by means of screws inserted through holes 19.

6 and 7* of the body' portion 1 are crimped inwardly at the deeper rearward portions 17, and the sides 18 of the cover 9 are substantially straight, extending over the crimped portions 17 when the cover is in place. In other respects the box shown in Fig. 5 is substantially the same as that shown in the other figures.

It will'be understood that the box herein described may be used as a junction or outlet box for of various forms, there being herein shown for purposes of illustration that form of conduit known as an elliptical .molding, composed of two

13 and 14, the outer section 14 clamping the side walls of the inner sectionv 13. The inner conductors inclosed in conduits portions of the walls 6 and of the box by means of connecting-pieces 15, and the joints covered by closure-pieces 16. This form of joint however forms no partof the present invention, but is claimed in an application filed by Chauncey V. Abbott on April 14th, 1911, Serial No. 621,008.

I claim as my invention:

1. In a-junction-box for electrical conduits, the combination with a body portion having side and end walls, the rear end wall and adjacent portions of the side walls being deeper than the other wall portions, of a cover provided with side walls and end walls. a portion of said side walls of one of said box parts being bent so that the side walls of the other box part may telescope therewith, and means for uniting said cover with said body portion.
