Be it known that I, JAY W. STEVENS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Assignment- Card Systems; and vI do hereby declare the follo-wing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to an improved assignment card system, especially adapted for iire department use, and it consists in Pthe constructions, combinations and arrangements herein described and claimed.

An object of my invention is to provide an improved assignment card system by which the numbers of all alarm boxes, or stations, to `which a fire company must respond are exposed by the several cards of a set in a distinctive manner, such as by employing red for all numbers, or cards, to which the engine company responds on lirst alarms, blue for second alarms, green for third alarms, etc.

A further object of my invention is to provide an improved assignment card system, by which the numbers of all alarm stations are exposed on the several cards of a set, in which each card designates the fire companies that are assigned to respond to ythe first, second, third and fourth alarms of` the particular alarm-station number exposed on said card, and also the actual distances from said alarm station to the quarters of all remaining lire companies; thereby providing a guide by which such remaining companies can fall in automatically according to their distances from the particu- .lar alarm station as substitutes for any of the several assigned companies which may kbe temporarily absent or out of'commission.

A further object rof my invention is to provide an improved assignment card system, in which the numbers of all alarm stations are exposed on the several cards of a set, and in which each card designates -the' :fire companies assigned to change location,

upon a second or subsequent alarm'jof the particular alarm-station vnumber expo-sed on said card, by proceeding to occupy the quarters of other companies which have been called out by such alarms; thereby insuring the maintenance of a proper re protection spcification gf remis,raigaat.` Application filed April 8, 1912. Referring to the drawings, the several cards l of the set carry index numbers 2 corresponding to the numbers of the various alarm stations; said several index numbers being exposed in the set, as shown in Fig. 1. The set of each re company has the index numbers kcorresponding to those alarms to which it is assigned to responddistinctively displayed, as by employing red for all numbers to which said particular company responds on iirst alarms, blue for onnion'. i'

I have illust-rated a preferred and satisfactory form of my improved assignment card system, but obviously slight changes iio could be made therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.

I claimz- 1. An assignment card system Comprising a set of cards provided with exposed index alarm numbers corresponding to the numbers of the several alarm stations, the set of each fire company having such index numbers corresponding to those alarm stations to which said company is assigned to respond distinctively colored, and each Card designating the actual distances from the alarm station indexed thereon to the quarters of all the remaining, unassigned companies.

An assignment card system comprising a set of cards provided With exposed index alarm numbers corresponding to the numbers of the several alarm stations, the set of each fire company having such index numbers corresponding to those alarm stations to which said company is assigned to respond distinctively colored, each card designating the actual distances from the alarm station indexed thereon to the quarters of all the remaining, unassigned companies, and also designating the tire Companies assigned to change location upon a second or subsequent alarm of said index alarm number.
