Referring now to Figs. 1 to '5 inclusive of the drawings, the reference-character 1 indicates a portion of a tubular or hollow corner post ofa bedstead, that shown in the accompanying drawings being of the usual cylindrical form, but it will be evident thatthe tubing of which the post is made may be of any other desired cross-section. At the proper point where the bracket-member 2 is to be connected or joined to the said post, thel latter is provided with a suitably formed slot or opening 3. Suitably disposed within the interior of said tubular or hollow post 1 isa correspondingly shaped lock-plate, as t, sometimes' called the washer, the main body-portion of this plate in the present instance being curved, so as to provide a pair of wing-like members 5 and 6-which conform to and register with theinner surface-portions of the said post -1, substantially as illustrated in said Figs.

1, 2, 3, 4L and 5 ofthe drawings. The main body-portion of the said lock-plate 4t is likewise `provided with a slot or opening 7 of the same conformation, substantially, as that of the previously-mentioned slot or opening 3, said slot or opening 7 being adapted to be brought into registration with the said slot or opening 3, for the purposes to be presently more fully set forth. EX- tending in an upward direction from the said main body-portion of the said lockplate 4L is an extension, as 8, said extension being formed with a pair of vertically eX- tending side- lugs 9 and 10, which project forwardly in the direction toward the longitudinal central axis of the post, and are also slightly angularly arranged so as to project at their vertical marginal edges toward each other, and thereby provide a suitable guide in which is slidably retained a suitably formed key or wedge, as 11.
