BIN.
Specification of petters ratent.
Patented Dec. 10, 1912.
Application tlled'lfaroh i'l, 1818. Serial No. 688,868.
and State New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bins,
of which the following is a specification.
' bins,
invention consists in certain novel features vdeviceto o n the several bins an them ztqbe; lied. The frontof each bin is g closedb" "a glpss 10 which is supported in a frame l My invention relates to improvements in the object of the invention being to provide an improved construction of bin and series of bins which enable a full display of the contents of the bins, but allow the contents to be removed as occasion may require.
A further object is to provide a series of bins with improved glass containin frames for each bin, and im roved means or holding the individual rames in the fronts of the bins.
With these and other objects in view, the
of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim. I
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1, is a view in front elevationillustratin my improvements. Fig. 2 is a view in onzontal lon 'tudinal section. Fig. 8, is a view in vertica transverse section on the line 3-8 of Fig. 2, and Fig. 4, is a view in elevation of one of the bin frames.
1, represents a rectan lar box divided by a series of parallel vertical partitions 2 into a series of ins 3, all of which are provided with inclined forwardly projectin partitions 4. 'These partitions 4 extend rom the rear wall of the bin forwardl and downwardly, so that the contents 0 the bin feed forwardly, and under this partition 4, where they are removed by any suitable scoop when a rear door 5 is opened. This door 5, is hinged as shown at 6, and is provided with a catch ,7. When the door is opened, its downward movement is limited by a troughlike 'stop,8, so as to hold it in an inclined position."
A hinged cover 9 is provided on to of the allow e frames 11 for the individual bins, are each composed of angle bars. These angle bars are secured to ether in rectangular form as indicated-an on their inner faces they are provided with flanges 12 which fit snugly within the open front of the him They are recessedas shown at 13 to receive the bars of a holding frame 14, and they have flan es 15 against which the glass 10 is secured y putty 16 or otherwise.
The holding frame 14 is of rectangular form as shown most clearly in Fig. 1, and comprises longitudinal and vertical bars. The intermediate vertical bars are ositioned in the recesses 13 of the adjacent rames 11, while the end bars and the upper and lower bars engage the members of rame 11 at the end to and bottom of the bin. In other wor s, t e bars of the holding frame snugly fit within the recesses 13 of the individual frames 11, and when this holding frame is secured to the structure by screws 17, all of the frames 11 will be securely held in the fronts of the bins.
If the glass in any frame is broken, the holdin frame 14 may be removed and then the in ividual frame removed and a new glass laced therein.
Wit my improved construction of bin, the contents are always removed in rotation. In other words the coffee, if coffee be in the bin is removed from the bottom of the bin, and by reason of the inclined partition 4 the bin has the appearance of being full even when there is a relatively small quantity, of material in the bin.
arious slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without de arting from my invention, and hence I 0 not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at libert to make such changes and alterations as airly fall within the spirit and see c of. the appended claim.
aving thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a box and a pluralit of bins formed therein having 0 en fron s of rectangular frames for each ain, each frame com risin angle bars having flanges to fit wit in t e open front of the bin, glass secured in said frames, said angle bars hav in recesses in their outer faces, and name to" this specification in the presence of a rectangu ar holding frame having longitwo subscribing witnesses.
tudinal vertical bars fittin within the recesses of the individual ame bars, and WALTER S means securin said holding frame to the Witnesses:
box, substantia y as described. ALFREDA MAY BISHOP,
In testimony whereof I huve signed my RAYMOND FORT PETTIT.
