Patent No. 104,626, dated June 21, 1870.
The, Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWAID MILNER, of Ma rquette, in the county-of 1\Iarquette and State of Michigan, have'lnvented.a new and useful Improvement in Balauce-spring Snlky; and Ida declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to-the accompanying drawing and to the letters -of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention, and Figure 2, a plan view of the forked spindle. Like letters indicate like parts in each figure. The nature of this invention relates to an improvemntin the-construction of spiingsnlkies, and consists in placing the seat on the top.'of a forked spindle, the
lower end of which rests upon a spring, and so arranged that the weight imposed upon the seat will always rest upon the center of said spring; also in the method of retaining Said spindle in an upright position, and ir a 'new'and novel arrangement of the various parts.
In the annexed drawing A. represents a spring, suspended from the axle B by the stirrups O. This spring may be supported above the axle, if desired, in the usual manner.
