CEMENT-MIXER.
Application filed March 18, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS REIDEL, a citizen of the Unit-ed States, residing at Tampico, in the county of Whiteside and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cement Mixers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in cement mixing apparatus and comprises a simple and efficient apparatus of this nature having various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of the cement mixer. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is a central longitudinal sectional view through a portion of the mixer and through the bearings in which the shaft of the mixer is mounted, and Fig. 4: is a detail perspective view of a scraper device.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a frame which may be of any suitable shape, preferably tapering and having a rear axle B upon which the wheels B are mounted and a forward axle G upon which the wheels C are mounted. A cross beam, designated by letter D, projects beyond the side beams of the truck, and inclined beams E rise one from each projecting end of the cross beam D and their upper ends are secured to the cross beam F. Standards F upon the truck are fastened to the upper portion of said beams E and serve as supports therefor. A socket member, designated by letter H, has a flanged portion which is bolted or otherwise secured to the plate I which is fastened to the beam D centrally upon the truck and a similar socket member, designated by letter K, is mounted upon the under side of the cylindrical mixer L, suitable braces K being fastened at their lower ends to the flange of Specification of Letters Patent.

Said cement mixing receptacle is provided with a circumferential exit opening Gr closed by means of a door G and held by fastening devices G and its top is provided with an opening L. Said cement mixer is mounted upon a rotatable shaft N which, a portion of its length, is cylindrical and has a squared part N. A second socket member M is fastened to the beam F and in which the upper cylindrical end of the shaft N is journaled. A pulley, designated by letter O, has a square outline opening fitting the lower squared portion of the shaft N and a cable Q, passes about said pulley and also a pulley R which is fixed to the rotatable shaft S, mounted in the frame S and to which shaft S a sweep T is fixed. Said cable also passes about a pulley J fastened upon the frame in which the sweep shaft is journaled in suitable bearings.
Fixed to the cross-piece F are bracket arms P which are secured to the blade or scraper P which is positioned inside the cement mixer, said bracket arms P extending through the opening L in the upper end thereof, said blade or knife serving to scrape the cement from the bottom of a mixer as the same rotates.
The operation of my invention will be readily understood and is as follows :-The mixer is given a rotary movement through the medium of the sweep or any other power and the material to be mixed is in serted within the rotary mixer through the opening in the top thereof. After the cement has been thoroughly mixed, it is emptied through the circumferential opening, the cement being scraped from the bottom of the mixer through the medium of the blade as shown.
