To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERMAN P. BECK, a citizen of the United States of America, re-

siding at Pittsburgh, in the county of Alle gheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dlnner-Buckets, of whlch the following is a specification, reference being had therein.

in a manner as hereinafter set forth for coupling the auxiliary receptacle to the main receptacle, and for coupling the lid of the auxiliary receptacle to the periphery of the latter.

A further object of the invention is to provide the auxiliary receptacle of a bucket of the class referred to with means in a manner as hereinafter set forth for connecting said auxiliary receptacle to the main receptacle, said means being so disposed with respect to the auxiliary receptacle that the lower portion of the auxiliary receptacle will be of the same area as the upper portion thereof, overcoming the necessity of making the lower portion of the auxiliary receptacle wedge-shaped to engage the inner face of the main receptacle, thereby increasing the capacity of the auxiliary receptacle.

Further objects of the invention are to provide a dinner bucket in a manner as hereinafter set forth which shall be simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, efiicient and convenient in its use and inexpensive to manufacture.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

In the drawings, wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views-Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a dinner bucket in accordance with this invention, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail of the auxiliary receptacle.

In the drawings is illustrated a dinner bucket oval in contour, but it is to be understood that the bucket can be of any desired shape.

Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 denotes the main receptacle which is formed with an open top and a closed bottom, the latter being indicated at 2.

The auxiliary receptacle is indicated by the reference character 3 and is closed through the medium of a lid 4 having a knob 5 and a wide depending rim 6 which, when the lid is in position, is arranged exteriorly of the auxiliary receptacle 3. The auxiliary receptacle 3 intermediate its top and bottom is swaged to provide an outwardly extending continuous bead 7 which is segmentshaped in cross section. 8 and 9 which are positioned in a plane outwardly with respect to the body portion 10 of the auxiliary receptacle 3. The flattened port-

8, 9 terminate in oppositely disposed inclined portions 11, 12 which merge into the body portion 10.

The inclined portion 11 is utilized for forcing the rim outwardly to frictionally engage the flattened portion 8, whereby the rim of the lid 4 will be coupled or secured to the auxiliary receptacle 3, so that the lid cannot he accidentally dislodged. When the lid is coupled to the auxiliary receptacle 3, the lower edge thereof abuts against one side of the bead 7.

The inclined portion 12 is utilized for forcing the top of the main receptacle 1 outwardly so that as the auxiliary receptacle 3 is positioned in the main receptacle 1, the upper portion of the main receptacle 1 will frictionally engage the flattened portion 9, and under such circumstances, the auxiliary receptacle 3 will be coupled with. the main receptacle 1 so that the auxiliary receptacle 3 cannot he accidentally dislodged from the main receptacle 1. When the auxiliary receptacle 3 is coupled in the manner as stated to the main receptacle 1, the top edge of the latter abuts against the bead 7 The reference character 13 denotes a ban dle which is pivotally connected to the brackets 14, these latter being secured to the main receptacle 1 and opposing each other. The connection between the brackets 14: and the ends of the handle 13 is indicated as at 15.

What I claim is:

1. A dinner bucket comprising a main and an auxiliary receptacle, the latter capable of having its lower portion inserted into the former and the former having the upper portion of its inner face uninterrupted, said auxiliary receptacle having its body off-set intermediate its ends to provide an outwardly projecting annular bead and to further provide an upwardly extending and outwardly projecting annular inclined portion terminating at its top in an annular vertically disposed flattened portion positioned wholly in a plane outwardly with respect to the lower portion of the body of said. auxiliary receptacle, said fiattened portion terminating in one side of said head and said inclined portion providing means for forcing the top of the main receptacle outwardly as the auxiliary receptacle enters into the main receptaclewhereby the top of said main receptacle will be shifted to extend upon and frictionally engage said flattened portion for coupling the auxiliary receptacle to the main receptacle,

said bead constituting a stop for the top edge of said main receptacle.

2. A dinner bucket comprising a main and an auxiliary receptacle, the latter capable of being inserted in the former, a lid for the auxiliary receptacle provided with a rim positioned exteriorly of said auxiliary receptacle, said auxiliary receptacle having its body provided intermediate its ends with an annular bead and further provided above and below the bead with a flattened portion terminating in the bead and offset with respect to the body of the auxiliary receptacle, said auxiliary receptacle further provided with a pair of outwardly projecting inclined portions, one arranged above and the other below the bead, and each merging into a flattened portion, each of said flattened portions constituting a lock one engaging with the rim for coupling the lid to the auxiliary receptacle, and the other with the main receptacle for coupling the auxiliary receptacle thereto.
