Be it known that I, LINDSLEY Sonor- MOES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hasbrouck Heights, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improve- One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a simple and practical form of lamp of the above character.
Another object is .to provide a lamp having few parts, which will be cheap to manufacture and easy to install.

The invention accordingly consists in the features. of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be exenuol'n'ied in theconstruction hereinafter set fortli/ the scope of theapplication of which wi l]; be indicated in the following claims. I 3

Referring to the drawing in detail, 1 represents aspider casting adapted to ,be socured to the ceiling of the car or vehicle in which the lamp is installed by means passing through suitable bolt holes 2. The central part ofthis casting is threaded at 3. for securing the same to a conduit or pipe carrying the electric wires. Ateach side thereof as secured a socket support 4 carrying a stem 5, the lower end'of which is secured to a socket 6 ofany well known character, adapted to'receive a source of light. such ,a'a an electric bulb, T. The stem 5 1s preferably threaded-into the socket support a and held firmly in place by a lock screw 8.
Surrounding the stem or conduit 5 is an ornamental casting or supporting member 9 secured to the spider casting by means of bolts 10 provided with lock washers 11.
At the lower part of the supporting member,'posit1oned above and surrounding the source of light, is a dome 12, held in place by means of screws 13 engaging the supporting member 9. -At thelower edge of the dome is a concave reflector holder ring 14, substantially as shown, adapted to engage and support the lower edge of a concave reflector 15, provided with a collar 16 loosely fitting around the socket 6 intermediate the socket and the lower part of the supporting member 9.
Secured about the interior of the dome at several points are a plurality of spring clips 17 engaging the upper surface of the reflector, resillently holding'same in glass, to break.
While but four of the resilient fingers 17, positioned at right angles to eachpther, are used in the modification herein disclosed, it is, of course, to be understodd that more or less may be used as desired.
It will be noted that the supporting ring 14 is held in place by means of screws 18 engaging the dome whereby the same may be conveniently removed to replace or clean the reflector when necessary.
At oneiside of the dome 12 is hinged a bezel or beveled ring 19 adapted to be engagedby a. pivotally mounted spring catch 20 at the opposite side. This catch is held in closed-position by means of the spring 21 so that the bezel may be snapped into place and securely held. This a'sbestos ring not only prevents heat being communicated from the dome 12 above the source of light, but also prevents rattling of the bowl against its holding means.
It is thus seen that this invention pro vides a simple and practical lamp, particularly adapted for use in railway cars, possessing, among others, all the objects and advantages above set forth.
5 As many changes could be made in, the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of this invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, itis intended that all matter contained in'the above description or shown in the accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
Having described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the character described, in combination, a dome, reflecting means within said dome supported at its lower edge, and means for holding the upper part of said reflector in alfreely supported position out of contact with. said dome.
'2. In a device of the character described, in combination, a dome, a concave reflector within the dome, a supporting ring for said reflector, and means associated with one of said first-mentioned parts for holding said reflector in freely supported position.

In a device of thecharacter described, in combination, supporting means adapted to be secured to the ceiling, a dome supported therefrom, a stem extending downwardly from said means through to the interior of said dome, an electric light posit-ioned at the lower end of said stem, a globe closing the under side of said dome, and reflecting means extending Within said dome surrounding said source of light.
11. In a device of the character described, in combination, supporting means adapted to be supported from the ceiling, a dome remorabiy supported from and beneath said means, a support passing down through the interior of said dome, an electric light carried by said last support, globe-supporting means carried by said dome and hinged adjacent one side thereof, a translucent globe closing the under side of said dome, and a concave reflector extending within said dome above and around said electric light.

In a device of the character described, in combination, means adapted to besecured to the ceiling, a dome supported therefrom, a stem passing from said means down through tU'the interior of said dome, a source of light positioned at the lower end of said stem, a bezel hinged to the lower edge of said-dome at one side thereof, a
spring fastening means for engaging said bezel at the opposite side, a globe sup.- ported from said bezel and closing the un der side of the dome, a supporting means secured to said dome, a reflector above and around said source of light supported by said means, and spring means for resiliently holding said reflector in place.

In a device of the character described, in combination, a casting adapted to be secured to the ceiling, a dome supported there from, a stern passing to th interior of said dome, a source of light positioned at the loner end of said stem, a bezel hinged to the lower edge of said dome at one side dome secured about the lower edge thereof, light-supporting means Wlil-lllll said l11'stmentioned means projecting downwardly through an opening in said dome. an electric light carried thereby positioned within said concave dome, and concave reflecting means interposed. between said dome and light.

In a device of the character described. in combination. supporting means adapted to be secured adjacent the ceiling. a concave dome secured about the lower edge thereof, light-supporting means within said firstmentioned means projecting downwardly through an opening in said dome, an electric light carried thereby positioned within said concave dome, and a translucent globe supported from and closing the under side of said dome.
