-:' Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fudging-Tools for Boots and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a fudging-tool for marking imitation stitches on the welt or upper margin of boot and like soles, and consists. in the provision of a counter-plate for the stitch element adapted to adjust itself to the lower surface of the sole irrespective of the angular deviations of the latter.
In the accompanying drawings the invention is illustrated, Figure 1 representing a view of a tool partly in section and partly in elevation, and Fig. 2, a front View of the adjustable plate and its surrounding elements. 7
The tool is composed of a pair of tongs the jaw a of which carries the stitch element 0, and the other jaw b, the counter plate 9 for the same. According to the invention the plate 9 is carried by one end of a spring f the other end of which is secured to a rounded head 6 which is adjustably held by a set-screw d on an arm connected to the jaw b. The spring I is accommodated in a groove h in the plate 9 which has also a slot '5 to admit the head of the fastening screw of the spring. An adjustable, right-angled arm is is also connected to the jaw 79, in known manner, for guiding the tool along the edge of the boot-sole.
The curved upper surface of the head 6 serves as a supporting surface for the plate 5/ and allows the latter to take up different angular positions. From this arrangement it follows that, while the stitch element 0 is applied to the welt of the sole and the counter plate 9 to the lower surface thereof, the plate can adjust itself to said lower surface of the boot-sole according as the latter is more or less inclined toward the edge.
I claim:
1. A fudging-tool for marking imitation stitches on the welt of boot and like soles, comprising a pair of tongs, a stitch element rigidly connected to one jaw of said tongs, a rounded head adjustably secured to the other jaw, and a counter-plate for said stitch element so connected to the head as to be able to adjust itself automatically on the curved supporting surface of the same in accordance with the inclinations of the solesurface.
2. A fudgingtool for marking imitation stitches on the welt of boot and like soles,
comprising a pair of tongs, a stitch element rigidly connected to one jaw of said tongs, a rounded head adjustably secured to the other jaw, a blade-spring connected with one end to said head, and a counter-plate for said stitch element connected to the other end of the spring so that the plate can ad- FRANZ RICHTER.
