IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-FASTENERS'.
Specification forming part of vLetters Patent Nn. l0-1,34l, dated .Tune ll, 1870.
To all 'whom it may concern,.-
' Be it known that I, HOWARD PERKINS, of Mansfield, Bristol county, State of Massachusetts, have invented anew and useful Sasha,
window-frame, upper and lower sashes, and
the fastener in the frame on hinges. Fig. 2 represents a side view of the same with the fastener in the 'frame closed, and the dotted lines show the shape, construction, andposition of the fastener when opened outward on its hinges. v
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention,` I will proceed' to describe its construction and operation, as fol.- lows:
The nature of my invention is an upright strip closely fitted into the frame of the window at the upper side, and extending from the iop ofthe lower sash to the top of the windowframe, and attached by two or more hinges to the frame, having a knob or handle to draw the fastener out, as a door to be opened, and when open the lower sash can be raised, but when the fastener is closed the lower sash is completely fastened and securedon the inside and from any possibility of raising the sash on the outside of the window.

In the groove C in the side of the frame A the fastener D is closely fitted and attached by hinges E E to the frame A.
The dotted lines show the position of the fastener D when open, and the knob .I as a handle to open or close the fastener' D.
