rrHoMAs DoNNnLLY, or rrrfrsisnae, 4AND JAMES H.v ANoHoRs, AND .ALLEN ANCHORS, OF BEAR CREEK STATION', PENNSYLVANIA.
Letters Patent No. 104,284, dated June 14, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN CONVEYINGVLIQUIDS.
The Sci'ieule referred to in these Letters ,Patent and making Vpart of the same To all 'wh-om t may concern Beit known that we, THOMAS DQNNELLY, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny, and J AMES H. AN- oHons and ALLEN Asorroas, of Bear Greek Station, in the county of Clarion and State of Pennsylvania,
have invented a new and improved Mode of Convey- Y ing- Liquids; and we do herebydeclare that the folf lowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part ot' this specification, in which the figure is a side elevation.
This invention consists of asliding frame, held on a cable stretched over abutments, and` used for supporting the pipes in which petroleum or other liquid is conveyed'over water, some mode of sustaining such pipes above water having been found necessary, in
order to avoid the mischief occasioned by ice and debris wheu the pipes are laid in such water as falls in their course.
In the drawing-1.... Y
A A are abutinents, supposed to be built at the margins vof a stream or lake.
a is a wire or hempen cable, stretched tightly over i the abutmentsby means well known in engineering.
bis a frame, suspended from the cable over the water. such suspension heilig. effected by sockets c at the upper ends of hangers d, through .which sockets the cable passes, and, by means of which, the frame may be slid on the cable.'
c are rollers, supported iu the hangers d.
h is the petroleum-pipe, resting ou the, rollers and bent downwardat each end of the frame b tothe genspecified.
