Description
S. B. GOFF. FOUNTAIN SYRINGE. APPLICATION FILED JAN.19, 1912.

SAMUEL B. GOFF, OF CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY.
FOUNTAIN-SYRINGE.
, Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 29, 1912.
Application filed January 19, 1912. Serial No. 672,140.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that. I, SAMUEL B. Gorr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Camden, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new tion being to provide a fountain syringe in which the reservoir or tankis in the form of a hollow ring supported upon the shoulders of the user, and to which suitable outlet pipes are connected through which the flow of water is controlled by the operator.
A further object is to provide improved means for increasing the pressure of water over the normal fall thereof, and provide improved means 'for supporting discharge nozzles over a water closet bowl, so that such nozzles may be held in convenient position without the necessity of holding them, leaving the hands free to control the flow of water.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1, is a perspective view illustrating my improvements in operative position. Fig. 2, is a View in transverse section through the bowl and seat, and Fig. 3, is a view in section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
1, represents a hollow tubular ring which is preferably of rubber or composition such as commonly employed in the manufacture of fountain syringe reservoirs. This ring 1 is endless, and is of a diameter sufficient to be passed over the head of the user, and supported upon the shoulders of the user, and a suitable inlet 2 for the admission of water to the tank or ring 1 is normally closed by a cap or plug 3.
- Outlet pipes 4 communlcate with the bottom of the ring 1 at opposite sides thereof, and in these outlet pipes 4:, valves 5 are provided, and also hand pressure bulbs 6 are provided in said pipes 1 to increase the pressure of the water and discharge it with increasedforce.
To force the water from the ring or tank 1'with a pressure exceeding the normal weight of the water, flexible bands 7 are located around the ring 1 at opposite sides thereof, and to these bands 7, cords 8 are secured. By a pull upon these cords 8, the flexible material of the ring or tank 1 is caused to compress the water in the tank and force it outward through the pipes 4 with just the desired pressure. On the ends of the pipes 1, nozzles 9 are located, and these nozzles are supported in a holder 10. This holder 10 issecured upon a cross bar 11 by means of a metal strap 12 fixed to the urn der side of the holder, and this bar 11 is adapted to be supported on the ordinary water closet bowl l3,and held in position there on by the seat 14.
'The ends of the bar 11 are bent downwardly as shown at 15 so as to snugly fit the upper surface of the bowl, and when the -weight of a person is upon the seat, the bar will be securely held and the nozzle holder 10 may be located on the bar at any position desired, but preferably centrally of the bowl.
The holder 10 is restricted intermediate its ends, and at its ends is of general conical form constituting in effect, two nozzles, one for the rectum and the other for the vagina. The weight of aperson will securely hold these nozzles in position, so that it is simply necessary for the operator to control the flow of water. This is done primarily by opening the valves 5, and if a greater pressure is desired, the cords 8 are pulled downwardly.
If an intermittent high pressure is desired, the bulbs 6 are compressed, and in all respects, the flow of water is entirely under the control of the operator.
Various slight changes might be made in the general form andarrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A fountain syringe comprising a ring of hollow flexiblematerial adapted to be positioned around the neck and supported upon the shoulders of the user, said ring constituting a supply tank, an outlet pipe communicating with said rin bands around said ring, and cords secure to said bands of hollow flexible material adapted to be positioned around the neck and supported upon the shoulders ofthe user, said ring constituting a supply tank, an inlet to'said ring, a cap normally closing said inlet, an outlet pipe communicating with said ring,
a valve in said pipe, bands around said ring,
and cords secured to said bands, whereby when a downward pull is had upon said cords, the pressure on the water in the ring is increased, substantially as described.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination Witha-bar adapted to be supported on a Water closet seat, of a double nozzle holder supported on the bar and having two openings theret-hrough, a ring tank adapted to be positioned around the neck and supported on the shoulders of the user,
outlet pipes communicating with said ring tank and opposite sides thereof, nozzles on I Copies of this patent may he obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
Washington, 30. C.
the ends of said pipes projecting upwardly said pipes,
neck and supported on the shoulders of the user,'outlet pipes communicating with said ring tank and opposite sides thereof, nozzles on the ends of said pipes projecting upwardly into the holder, and valves in said pipes, pressure bulbs in said pipes, straps around the neck tank, and cords secured'to said straps, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
