To all whom et may concern.'
Be it known that I, CARL P. Mrciinnson, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Mason, in the county of Ingham and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Refrigerating-Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
rfhis invention relates to a portable refrigerating case and its object is to provide a receptacle having the appearance of an ordinary traveling bag provided with the usual handle by means of which it may be readily carried. and having an internal arrangement whereby a receptacle is thoroughly cooled by a circulation of water from an ice chamber and all liability of leakage obviated.
The invention consists in the matters hereinafter set forth and more particularly pointed out in the claims reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which,

A suitable casing 1 is preferably made in a form approximating that of an ordinary traveling bag with the usual handle or hand grip 2 secured to the top of the receptacle which is formed with a rib 3 provided with devices t representing the usual fastenings upon a traveling bag and also with a device 5 representing a lock. These devices l and 5 perform no function further than to give to the receptacle the appearance of a traveling bag. The top wall 6, side walls 7 and bottom wall 8 are all formed double with a space between the walls which space is filled with a suitable insulating material 9 such as corrugated liber board to prevent rapid radiation and keep the contents from heating. A third wall 10 is spaced from the double wall to form a water space t1 extending all the way around a bottom chamer 12 which is provided to receive a suit, ably shaped receptacle 13 for carrying fish or other material which it is desired to keep cool. The wall 10 also forms a second chamber 14 in the upper part of the casing directly above the chamber 12 and an ice receptacle 15 is formed to tit closely within the chamber 14 it being supported along its lower edges upon a ledge 16 formed by inward projections of the wall 10. A door 17 is provided in the end of the chamber 14 through which door opening the ice receptacle may be inserted. This door is held in place by a suitable latch 18 of any desired construction and upon the end of the ice receptacle adjacent to the door is formed a downwardly extending tubular spout 19 which tits within an enlargement of the water space 11, said enlargement being formed by an inward depression of the wall 10 which forms a funnel 2O to receive the tubular discharge spout 19 on the ice receptacle. As the ice melts the cold water drains through the spout 19 into the water space 11 surrounding the chamber 12 and thus the receptacle 13 is kept cold by the lilm of ice cold water surrounding the chamber. The capacity of this water space l1 is preferably made substantially the same as the capacity of the ice receptacle so that when the ice is all melted the w'ater space will be filled with water and there will be no liability of any leakage.
The ice receptacle is illed through an opening in its bottom which is closed by a screw cap 21. The ends of the receptacle 13 are preferably rounded at their lower corners as shown at 22 so that the receptacle may be easily cleaned and will slide into the chamber 12 without binding, access to said chamber being gained through an end opening in the end w'all of the casing which opening is closed by a suitable door 23 held in place by a latch 24 of any desired construction. The door 23 is preferably located in one end wall of the casing and the door 17 in the opposite end wall. The ice receptacle 15 and the receptacle 13 are therefore withdrawn through opposite ends of the casing and this arrangement brings the discharge nipple 19 on the ice tank adjacent to the door 17 so that it will slide into the funnel 2O and the receptacle will engage and make a tight joint with the funnel.
Obviously, changes in the construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention and I do not wish to limit myself to the particular form and arrangement shown.
Having thus fully described my invention what l claim ist- 1. In a device of the character described7 the combination of a casing having openings in the ends thereof7 and formed with a Water space extending along the sides, end and bottom of the casing, a longitudinally removable receptacle in the lower part of the casing, an ice receptacle longitudinally removable through one of the end openings in the receptacle and fitting Within the upper part thereof, a discharge nipple on the bottom of the ice receptacle opening into the Water space, and closures for the openings in the ends of the casing.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination of a casing having a double Wall forming a Water space extending along the sides, one end and bottom of the casing, said casing being also formed With openings in its opposite ends, a handle secured to the top of the casing, an ice receptacle fitting within the top of the casing and removable longitudinally through one of its end openings, a funnel on the Wall of the casing adj acent to the opening through Which the ice receptacle is removable, anipple on the bottom of the ice receptacle adapted to project into the funnel and discharge into the Water space, a receptacle in the lower part o-f the casing removable longitudinally through an opening in the end Wall of the casing, and closures for the openings in the ends of the casing.
