Description

im in Loef., Pm: No. 104,117, am: .zum 14, 1ero. 1
neraevnunn'r ns senr-monstruosa i Y meehcdnlordmdtomthmmxeuntanduhngputettholm I, DANIEL P. Geox, of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Oormecticut, have invented an improved Seltllrotector, of which the following is a specification. Y
Nature and Olpcots of the Invention.
- My invention is adevice for so covering up the sexaal organs of a person addicted to the vice of mastur-` tation, from his own touch and control, that he or alle must refrain from the commission of the vicious und self-degrading act.
It is well known to those who have charge of prisons, reform-schools, and the like, that the practice of masturbation becomes all but universal among those confined therein. Itis also well known to physicians, and to some beads of families, that multitudes of Ichil-- dren of both sexes injnretheir moral and physical natures for life by the pmctice of this vice.
My invention is designed to put it into the power of those -who have the control of all such persons to eut-irelyprevent thepractiee. i f
tion attached.
Figure 2 is a rear view ofthe same.
General Dcnptiam The leiter a indicates a'band encircling the' body inst above the bips, tire baud being locked together behind by a small padlock, b, or other suitable device, the lrey to which is to be carried by the person who has charge ofthe masturbutor.
In frontfilris'band a is connected, by numerous strips, c c, 85e., with the lower baud, d, whiclr,.at the rear, passes down, one end under the leg, and both ends are attached to the rear of the pouch o, which pouch is made somewhat bag-like, for the purpose of containing the organs. The front part ofthe pouch stantially as and for the purpose DANIEL P. coole is attached to the lower band d, in front of the per I These various parts, the upper and lower bands, theV connecting-strips-and the pouch, may be made of cloth,
leather, or' metal, or, in fact, any other convenient runterial. If made of metal, the parts which bear against the body must be padded, to prevent chafngund injury to the u.
new Y The pouch should (at least I so prefer i) be made l of rubber or metal, and at the rear a small hole or l' spout is left for the discharge of urine.
The apparatus must be so titted tothebody as to f j have the edges o' theV pouch fit close against the perf son, so that it will be impossible for the wearer to touch the confined organ.
It' the connecting-strips are should be hinged or pivotcd to both the upper and lower bands, so ns to allow free movement of ahebody.
In addition to its property as a protector, this des; r vice serves a useful purpose in sustaining the bowels,y l like a truss, or as furnishing the foundation for the at n tachmentf shoulder-braces.
It is recommended that all the parts be made as exible as is consistent with the otlice they have to perform. l
u I olaiinas my invention-.-
1. The pouch e, made substantially :rs described, for
the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of the, upper band a, the con.
treating-strips c, thelower bend d, and the pouch e,
the whole being constructed, armnged, ond used subset forth.
Dated April 9, 1870.
