To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, THOMAS R. STOCK- TON and MARVIN STOCKTON, citizens of the United States, residing at Dyer, in the county of Gibson and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and useful Portable Camp-Stove, Including W'ashing Boiler or Kettle; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a new and useful portable camp cooking stove.

It is the principal object of this invention to provide a stove of this nature, in which essential or important features of construction are involved.

One of the features of the construction is the provision of legs, which are foldable, so that the stove may be rolled or moved from place to place, upon wheels, upon which the stove is mounted.

Another feature is the provision of a handle member for moving the stove.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

In the drawings :Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the improved stove construct-- ed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the stove, and showing the legs folded, so that the stove may be rolled and moved from place to place. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1. Fig. 1 is an enlarged detail view of one of the legs, showing the structure thereof. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 55 of Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawings 1 designates the casing of the improved stove, which casing is constructed of sheet metal, suitably braced at the various corners by the stays 2. Arranged in the stove is a grate 3, which is held in position on the stays 2 by the devices 1. The space above the grate is utilized as the fire box 5, while the space below the grate acts as the ash pit 6. A door 7 hinged at 8 and provided with a latch 9 is provided for closing the entrance to the ash pit. A similar door 10 for the fire box is provided, and which is hinged at 11, there being a latch 12 for holding the door 10 locked.

A space, which constitutes an oven 13, is partitioned off by the vertical and horizontal sheet metal walls 1 1 and 15. Doors 16 are provided, to permit access to the oven.

The upper portion of the casing of the stove is provided with a pair of openings 18 and 19. The opening 18 permits the heat from the fire box to contact directly with the bottom of a boiler or kettle 20, in which clothes to be washed may be boiled. A preserving kettle (not shown) may be placed over the opening 18 instead of the clothes boiler. A tea kettle 21. covers the opening 19. \Vhen neither the tea kettle nor the boiler cover the openings 18 and 19, covers 22 and 23 are arranged in place.

The doors 7 and 10 are provided with a series of perforations 2-1 and 25, with which the openings 26 and 9.7 of the dampers 28 and 29 pivoted at 30 register, in order to regulate the draft and the burning of the fire.

A smoke flue 31 opens into the fire box, and passes through the oven and through the top of the stove, and terminates above the stove. The usual form of damper 32 is arranged in the flue, to also regulate the draft.

Mounted in hearings in the stove is an axle 83, on which wheels 34 are journaled, whereby the stove may be rolled and moved from place to place.

Pivoted to the lower portions of the stays, which project beyond the bottom of the stove are legs 35, which are provided with shoulders 36. Fitted on the stays just above where the legs are connected thereto are sleeves 37, which as shown in Fig. 1 cover the joints between the stays and the legs, in contact with the shoulders 36, thereby holding the legs firmly in position. However, when it is desired to roll or move the stove, the sleeves are moved upwardly on the stays above the joints of the legs, after which the legs are folded as shown in Fig. 2, and are received between the spring clamps 39. In this manner the stove is then supported upon the wheels 34, thereby enabling a person to roll or move, the stove to any desired locality, by pushing upon the handle 40, which is pivoted at 11. This handle is U-shaped or in the form of a bail member. hen the stove is supported upon the legs as shown in Fig. 1 the handle or bail member is thrown beneath the stove.

A spout 12 having a valve cock 43 projects from the wash boiler.

The invention having been set forth, what islclaimed as new and useful is stays. sleeves fitting about the oints between the legs and the extensions for holding the legs steady and erect, the sleeves adapted to be moved above the joints to permit the legs to be folded, and means carried by the sleeves to hold the legs folded, and wheels for supporting the stove when the legs are folded.

2. A portable camp cooking stove constructed of sheet metal having stays fixed in the corners of the stove, the stays having lower extensions, legs hinged to the extensions, sleeves fitting the hinged joints to hold the legs erect and steady, the sleeves adapted to be moved on the extensions above the hinged joints to permit the legs to be folded, means carried by the sleeve to hold the legs folded, and wheels on which the stove is mounted when the legs are folded.

3. A portable camp cooking stove constructed of sheet metal having a shaft journaled in bearings thereof, wheels mounted on the shaft, whereby the stove may be rolled or moved from place to place, stays secured in the corners of the stove for bracing the same and provided with lower extensions, legs hinged to the extensions and provided with shoulders, sleeves fitting about the hinged joints and supported by the shoulders, the sleeves adapted to be moved farther on the extensions above the hinged joints to permit the legs to be folded, the sleeves having clamps to receive the legs for holding them folded, and a bail-shaped handle member pivoted; to the stove whereby the same may be pushed from place to place on the wheels when the legs are folded.
