I OF CALDWELL, IDAHO.
CRUDE-OIL BURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 29, 1911.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL D. KUNKEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Caldwell, in the county of Canyon and State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Crude-Oil Burners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in crude oil burners adapted to be placed within stoves, etc., and so arranged as to distribute equally the heat over various parts of the fire box.
The invention comprises various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a burner made in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a sectional View through the same transversely.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a frame of such a size as to be conveniently placed within the fire box of a stove. Said frame has longitudinal recesses formed therein in stepped relation to one another, said recesses being designated respectively by letters E, B and N, the lowermost of which forms a drip trough, while a fuel tube 0, having apertures D therein, is positioned in the next higher recess adjacent to the drip trough and has a supply tube T communieating therewith at one end of the fuel tube. In the highest of the three recesses is an open-ended cylinder F, having a series of perforations F formed therein, through which heated air may be drawn by draft which may be created by the heated air passing out of the ends of the cylinder F for heating a room, etc. It will be noted upon reference to Fig. 2 of the drawings that the fuel tube C projects over the lowest recess which forms the drip trough.
The operation of the invention will be readily understood and is as follows 1-- Crude or other oil being placed in the fuel supply tube and ignited as it issues through the perforations therein will cause the drum F to become heated and distribute its heat adjacent to the walls of the fire box and oven of a stove where a high and regular temperature may be desired to be maintained. The combustion of the fuel will cause an intense heat which will be equally distributed.
What I claim to be new is A crude oil burner comprising a frame having longitudinal recesses formed therein in stepped relation to one another, the lowermost of the recesses forming a drip trough, a perforated, open-ended cylinder in the uppermost of the recesses, and a perforated fuel supply tube seated in the intermediate recess, said fuel supply tube projecting over the drip trough, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL D. KUNKEY.
