To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that LJAMns T. MCCABE, a citizen of the United VStates of America, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, city, county, andState of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements'in Door-Hangers, of which the followingis a specification.
My invention relates to a combined'door hanger and track, the upper face of the track being provided with a grooved runway adapted to receive anti-friction 'bearing balls, while the hanger comprises in its construction, a yoke adapted to be secured to a door and to a rider bar provided on its lower edge or face, with a grooved runway adapted to seat and moveon the antifriction balls located in the runway of the track, said balls being held in spaced relation to each other by means of a `vertically disposed spacer.
For this purpose it consists in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of which. it is composed as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. f
Referring to the accompanying drawings in which corresponding parte are designated by corresponding marks of reference: Figure 1 is an elevation of a door hanger constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is an end view showing. the supporting bracket of the stationary track. Fig. 3 is a' vertical section on lines 3--3 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4: is a fragrnentaltop plan view of the spacing plate of the balls. Fig. 5 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 6 is an end elevationo'f a modified form of the invention, showing a slightly different type of track and rider bar and their support-ing devices. Fig. 7 is a sectional view taken through a modified form of stationary track.
The stationary track A is carried above the door opening by suitable brackets B, one located at each end thereof, only one of these brackets being shown in the drawing. It will be understood that the station* ary track A extends suiicientlv to the side of the door opening to permit the door to be opened. The door C is carried by the yokes D (only one shown) from the rider bar E located above the stationary track. The track has a runway a in the upperface e rider bar.

In order to properly space the balls F and prevent their approaching each other too closely or gathering at any part of the run-Ways they are contained within apertures g of'a spacing plate G. This plate in the assemblage of the hanger is placed in a vertical plane, its lower edge being contained within and guided by the slot a in the track while its upper edge is con tained in and guided by the slot e in the separat-e the balls? and is entirely contained, concealed and protected against injury or rusting. The balls are held within the apertures of the plate by ears g struck up from the side of the plate in the process of forming the apertures g, a part of the metal of the plate on each side of the apertures being bent up to each side of the plate and being partly closed after the insertion of the balls to hold the latter, as is fully shown in Figs. 4f and 5.
In Fig. 6 I have shown a track A and a rider-bar E slightly diiferent in construction, whereas in the preceding figures these parts are represented as substantially rectangular cross bars. I here show them as formed of roller sheet met-al shaped to form the runways a and e, and the slots a c', as before but in lieu of the end brackets B the stationa track is provided at the side with a vertica web B which at its top is bent back horizontally to form a cover B" provided with a depending flange B3. The cover B2 may loe secured at proper intervals above the door opening in the usual manner. In a like manner the rider-bar has a depending web D on its one side, which at its4 bottom is bent forwardly andhorizontally to afford a base D2 provided with a strengthening ange D3. The door may be hung from the-base in the usual manner.

In a door hanger, a trackcom osed of a strip of metal bent longitudinal y upon itself to form a webof double thickness, the tops of the metalcoxnprising the web being bent outwardly to form inclined ianges, a V-shaped reinforcing flange member laid on the flange thus formed and secured bythe inturned edges of the flange member, wheref by a longitudinal groove is provided in the base of the track in the iiange and between the inturned edges.
