exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure 1 is a plan view of a buckle constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 a perspective view of the slide detached. Fig. 3 a sectional view of the buckle complete.
This invention relates to an improvement in slide buckles such as are commonly usedl on belts and for other purposes and which consistof a cast metal frame and a sheet metal slide.
The object of this invention is to simplify the construction and provide for limiting the movement of the slide with respect to the frame, and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
In carrying out my invention I employ a" frame comprising side bars 2, 3, front bar 4, rear bar 5, upper transverse bar 6 and lower transverse bar 7. In connection with this frame I employ a sheetmetal slide 8 formed on opposite sides of its outer end with wings 9 and 10 forming shoulders 11 and 12 which will engage with the lower transverse bar 7 to limit the inward moveinentof the slide. The inner end of the slide is turned downward and then outward forming a vertical wall 13 which will come in contact with the rear of the transverse bar 7 and thereby limit the outward movement of the slide, and to prevent the withdrawal of the slide after it has been inserted beneath the front bar 4f over the transverse bar 7 and beneath the transverse bar 6. The central portion of the transverse bar 6 is struck inward after the slide is in position to such an extent as to prevent the raising of the lower end of the slide sufficiently to permit the wall 13 to clear the bar 7.` The slide is thus interlocked with the frame and limited in both its forward and rearward movement.
I claim y A slide buckle comprising a frame having side bars, a front bar, a rear bar, an upper transverse bowed bar and a lower transverse bar, and a sheet metal slide extending beneath the front bar over the lower transverse bar and under the upper transverse bar, the rear end of the slide ext-ending downward and rearward forming a vertical wall engaging with the bowed portion of the yupper transverse bar, t-he rear eXtension of the slide being adapted to engage with the upper transverse bar to prevent the withdrawal of the slide from the frame when the slide is at the limit of its forward movement.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscrib- I-I. A. ASHMAN, L. II. WEED.
