-a citizen. of the United States, residing at 'Abbeville, in the parish of Vermilion and 5 State 6f Louisiana, have invented certain knew and useful Improvements in Rail Joints and Fasteness pf which the following is a specification.

' My'mvention fialates to 1mprovemen ts in provision of a oint so tonstrubt'edt 'at the rails ar'e'adapted to be com cs-ted together in such a manner as to obviate any independent 'lateral or vertical displeacementof the rails. It will beapparent that rails jbined by my improved joint are not weakened by the bolt holes usually employed to secure fishplates to the meeting ends of the rails, and

also that the rails have the maximum freedom' of movement caused by changes of tem perature.
