INSECT-DESTROYER.
1 ,03 7 ,623, specificati/vpn of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 3, 1912-.
Application leiAugust 10, 1911. Serial No. 643,438.
To all whom t may-concern.:
Be it known that I, FRANZ A. HINsKY, a citizen of the United States, and residing at Hoboken, in the county o f Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new vand useful Improvements in Insect- Destroyers, of which the following is a specication, such as will enable those skilled and use the same.
This invention relates to. devices for d.e stroying various forms of insect life such as bedbugs, roaches, ants and the like, and the object thereof is to provide an improved struction and operation and comparatively of 4the class specified vmay be easily eXtermi'nated,
A The invention is fully disclosed in thevfollowing specification, of whichl the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my invention are designated by suitable reference 'characters in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a sectional side elevation of my improved insectdestroyer; Fig. 2 a side view of the top portion thereof and on an enlarged scale, and showing the parts disconnected and partly in section; Fig. 3 a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and; Fig. 4 a partial section o-n the lineeli of Fig. i. In the practice of my invent-ion I provide an alcohol or hydrocarbon burner comprising a reservoir a having a burnei` a2 of the usual or any 'preferred form and provided with upright supports a3 which, in the form of construct-ion shown, are provided at their upper ends with inwardly directed members a* and on which rest a cylindricalcasing Z) which is secured thereto or connected therewith in any desired manner, and is designed to receive a tank or can c which, when .in position, rests on the inwardly directed supports c and is removable from the casing b.
The casing is provided at the top thereof with an inwardly directed flange o2 preferably provided with perforations b3 and at the bottom of the casing are triangular lugs b4 which serve to center the bottom of the tank or can c and hold it in proper position, and the casing 71 in connect-ion with the tank or' can c, when the latter isfin position, forms an annular chamber d around the botl toni part of said tank or can and the bottom safety valve e2 of any preferred construction. The collar ot is provided on' its opp0 site sides with projecting, pins f and the rim ofthel supplemental cap e .is provided with L-shaped slots e3 the top portions e4 of which are inclined as clearly'shown, and this forms a bayonet coupling or connection for the supplemental cap and collar c4 by means of which the cap may be securely connected with the collar so as to prevent the escape of steam from the tank or can c.
Connected with the .top portion ofthe tank o-r can c is a flexible hose'g thefree' end of which is providedwith a tubular member g2 which serves as ay handle for the manipulation of a nozzle g3 detachably connected therewith, and said nozzle,` g3 is preferably shaped as shown in Figs. l` and 3, being provided with a fiat, narrow or thin discharge edge having perforations g4.
The tank or. can c is provided with a bail 71, and the casing I) with a bail /12 and the operation will be readily understood from the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the .accompanying drawing and the following statement thereof. In practice, the tank or can o serve.,| as a boiler and is partially filled with water as shown at z' and this water may be quickly heated to the steam generating point by the burner (12, and the device may be carried around from one point to another by means of the bail /z and at' the same time the nozzleY (/3 maybe manipulated so as to discharge the escaping steam into any ,part of a bedstead frame, or into any cracks, creases and crevices around the floor of a room orapartmentor around the bedstead of said room or apartment, or into any other place where insects are apt to gather, and this as will be understood.. 1
will kill or destroy said insects. The bail 71.2 is for the purpose of manipulating theentire device or carrying it around from one point to ano-ther and by means of the bail /L the tank or can c may be lifted out of the casing whenever desired forany-.purpose or easily replaced therein when necessary The object of the casing b is to4 center and hold the tank or can in operative position vaporized, a casing Within Which said can lor 1 tankis placed to be heated, said easing having at its upper end an inwardly extending iange having separated perforatons there- Copies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the. Commissioner of Yatents.
