. with the view of its equable or uniform distribution along the bowl-contour and its upper edge rim.
A further object is to intercept or abate the force or pressure of the water as it is delivered for flushing the bowl regardless of the source or head-pressure.
A still further object is to provide for not only washing down or flushing the bowl proper, but also to wash or clean the flushing roll or rim itself well upwardly from its upper surface downwardly toward the bowl.
A still further object is to, carry out the aforesaid ends, in a simple, expeditious, effective and inexpensive manner.
The invention consists of certain instrumentalities and features substantially as hereinafter fully disclosed and defined by the claims.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating the preferred embodiment of my invention, wherein it will be understood that numerous changes and modifications may be made as relates to the details of the construction and'--v roll in modified form; Figt is a like view of like parts disclosing another modification. v.
. In utting my invention into practice, I provi ethe closet-bowl l of the well known siphonic action type, or as for that matter of a other make, with a roll or rim 2 of the tubular or hollow outline and extending either artly or wholly around the upper edge 0 the bowl, being integral therew th. This rim-member or roll 2, with wh ch co unicatesthe water-inlet or supplly pipe 3, provided in its bottom close to t e inner we. of the bowl with a circular arrange ment of closely assembled perforations or openings 4 for suitably delivering or passmg the water, received within said roll or rim-member, down along the inner surface of the bowl, immediately from the roll or rim thus providing for washing down the entire inner wall surface of the bowl proper for the effective removal of all foreign matter therefrom. The roll or rim-member 2 has also in its'inner annular or circular surface quite near the very upper edge thereof a preferably continuous opening or slot 5. for the further delivery or passing of water,. received within said roll or rim-membentherefrom, in this case,fdowi1" upon the roll or rim member, itself, inbroad sheet-form for effecting the removal, or washing off the same,,any adhering fecal or other foreign matter.
From the foregoing'structure, ncluding the roll or rim having the double-water delivery outlets ii the form oft-the circular arrangement of pei'forations and the continuous opening or slot, it will be noted that the bowl proper in its entirety, as well as the roll or rim, are thoroughly or efl'ec-' tively cleaned of allsuch matter.
The bowl rim or roll 2, which as before stated, is tubular or hollow, has arranged therein a horizontally disposed sub-dividing preferably downwardly curved or concaved member, or septum 6, forming substantially a partition intermediate the upper and lower water outlet points withintherim or roll as clearly disclosed in either Fig. 1 or Fig. 2.
In the partition or member 6 about centrally thereofyare numerous perforations or apertures 7-, distributed uniformly throughout said partition, for the passage there'- through in the desired manner'of the water upv-into the upper part'of the roll or rim, whence 'itis delivered through the outlets 5, into the bowl as aforesaid.
As suggested by, Fig. 3' thewalls of the or reinforeed'by t e'arrangement or forma tion in'connection therewith of struts or partition like portions 8 disposed at suitable intervals throughout the slot preferably as disclosed. Also, as shown in this figure, is a pendent partition or baflio 9 arrangedcontiguous to, and intermediatethe water outletsj't-and the perforations 7 in the partition or memberfi, to guard against the casual splashing of the water out through said outlets, especially when under a very heavy delivery'slot 5 ma be, or rather are, braced head or pressure of water, thereby'control hug the delivery of the water into the hovel.
spaced of? from the inner surface thereof,
so as to form a continuous circular delivery or discharging opening or slot 11 correspondingfto/the above referred to water delivery opening or slot. The delivery or discharge trend of the o'peningor slot 11 is preferably downward to cause the issuing sheet of water to follow the contour. of the bowl rim or roll therebelow for efiective washing or cleansing action.
It is clearl apparent from the foregoing disclosure, ta en in connection with the accompanying illustration or drawing, that my invention is characterized for great simplicity of structure, embracing the minimum number of parts therefore inexpensive of manufacture, wlnle it is efiective in action for the thorough washing down of the bowl including the washing or cleaning of the bowl rim or roll, besides being adapted to control the pressure of the inlet-water and to uniformly deliver and distribute" the water for cleansing action.
What is claimed:
1. A closet-bowl having a tubular upperedge roll or rim, said rim or roll having upper and lower water outlets the lower water-outlet delivering the water for efiecting the bowl flushing or washing action, said roll also havin apertured partition-member intermediate said upperv and lower water outlets.
2. A. closet-bowl having an upper-edge tubular roll provided with upper and lower water-delivery outlets in its upper and lower inner portions respectively and a substantially horizontal partition-forming member having numerous water delivering perforations therethrough, said partition torming member being intermediate said upper and lower Water outlets.
3. A closet-bowl having an upper-edge tubular roll provided with upper and lower waterdelivery outlets in its upper and lower a substantially horizontal \inner portions, respectively, a partitionforrcing member having numerous waterdelivering perforations therethrough and arranged intermediate said upper and lower water-delivery outlets, and an additional battle-member dependingv from the inner upper surface of said roll and having its lower edge spaced oil from, and arranged contiguous to said perforated partition.
4. A closet-bowl having an upper-edge tubular roll provided, intermediate its upper and lower portions with a substantially horizontal perforated partition forming member, said roll l having a watermember arranged intermediate said partition and said water-outlet.
5. A closet-bowl having a hollow-roll or rim having an upper water-outlet and a water-inlet, said roll or rim having therein substantially horizontally into upper and lower compartments and arranged intermediate said water-inlet and said water-outlet, said water-inlet providing for delivering the water below said perforated partition and said perforated partition being adapted to serve as a baiile for the water finally delivered through said water-outlet.
6. A closet-bowl having an upper-edge tubular member provided with a substantially horizontal perforated partition, said tubular member-having a lateral delivery CHARLES W. BESWICK.
