Figure 1 is a vertical section of one form of combined faucet and drinking fountain embodying this invention. Fig. -2 a plan view of the apparatus shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 asection on the line 3-3 Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 a detail to be referred to.

In the present instance I have shown one embodiment of' the invention, which comprises a pipe c provided at its free end with screw threads b for attachment to the water supply pipe inthe usual manner, and connected at its other end to a pipe c, which constitutes a discharge pipe vfor the faucet, the ,iiow of water through it being controlled by a valve d provided with the hand wheel c.

l The pipe c has pivotally mounted upon it a cup 10, which is closed at its bottom except for a port or opening 12, which is adapted. to register with a port or opening 13 in the'head or end 14 or the pipe c. The cup 10 constitutes the drinking cup or fountain and is shown as mounted to turn on a stud or pin 16 erected upon the head 14 of the pipe c and is retained thereon by a spring 17, encircling the pivot pin or stud 16A and interposed between adjust-ing nuts 20 and the bottom of said cup.

The cup 10 may be provided with a handle 23 to facilitate turnl`he cup 10 may be leftopen, or as may be preferred, it may be provided with a removable cover 25 which is provided with a central port or opening 26 through which the water may pass in the form of a substantially small stream. The cover 25 is shown as provided with holes 27 for the reception of a spunner wrench by .which it may be unscrewed from the cup. The cup 10 Inay contain within it below the cover 25 a strainer or filter 28 of gauze or other suitable material. Provision is made for conducting away the overflow from the drinking cup, and for this purpose, the cup 10 is surrounded by a larger cup 30`having an outlet pipe 3l extended from its bottom and surrounding the outlet pi e c for the faucet.

The cup 30 and its out et pipe 31 may be cast in one piece with the pipes a c comprissol ing the faucet, or they. may be made in-V separate pieces' and suitably 'connected together.

In the present instance the valve ai is shown as a plug valve, having a' rounded end which extends across the pipe c and fits a correspondingly shaped seat 32 see Fig. 4, so as to effectively close the pipe o when the' valve d is'closcd. The valve (Z is shown as provided with screw threads 34 which engage an internally threaded boss 35 extended laterally from the pipes c, 31, said boss having Va cap 36 which admits of the valve stein 37 being packed water tight in a manner well understood.

The bottom of the drinking cup 10 is designed to make a ground joint with the head or end 14 of the pipe c so as to obtain a water tight joint when the cup is turned thidough the pip'e a and upwardly into' the pipe c above the valve d through the ports upon the water'flows from the pipe a into and out of the pipe c at the lower lend of the latter. .n

I have herein shown one .construction of device embodyin this invention but I do not desire to limlt myself lto thisparticular construction jshown, as it is evident thatV the 'cup l0 practically forms a wide mouth for v the upwardly extended lportion of the pipe c.

Claims:

In a combined drinkingfountain and Iaucet. `in combination, an overflow pipe provided with a cup at its upper end and with `a water outlet atrits lower end, a pipe within the overflow pipe having a head at its upper end provided with an outlet port, and having its lower end open, a water inlet pipe extended laterally into the overflow pipe and connected with the'inner pipe, a

drinking cup rotatably mounted on the inner pipe` and having a port in its bottom cooperating withfth'e port in the head of the inner pipe,. said drinking cup being of smallen diameter than the overtlow cup, and a valve accessible from outside of the overflow pipe and controlling .the ow of water down through the inner pipe, 'substantially as described.

3. In a combined drinking fountain and p faucet, an overtlowpipe provided at its upper end with a cup, and at its lower end with a water outlet, a pipe within said overflow pipe and secured thereto and provided with a waiter outlet leading to the said cup,

and witha second water outlet independent of the overflow pipe, a water inlet pipe extended into the overflow pipe and connected with the inner pipe between the water outlets of the latter, and valves to control the ow of water Vthrough the outlets of the inner pipe, substantially as described.

4. In acombined drinking fountain and faucet, an Overflowlpipe' provided with a 95 cup at its upper end, means within the overflow pipe for forming a chamber having an outlet through the overflow pipe anda -seoond outlet into the overflow pipe, a water! inlet pipefextended .into the overflow pipe and connected withgsaid chamber, a valve accessible from outside. the overflow pipe for controlling the flow of water out of said chamber independently of said overflow pipe, and a second valve accessible from outside of the overflow pipe for controlling the flow of water out 'of said chamberfinto the cup atv the upper end ot saidjoverilow pipe.
