ADOLPI-I M. LARSEN, 0F CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
TOWEL-HGLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led March 16, 1911.
Patented Aug. 27, 1912.
serial No. 614,935.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH M. LAnsnN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Towel-Holders, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to improvements in towel holders and has for its object the provision of a device of this character which shall be of simple construction and efficient in operation.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
My invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of the specification and 'in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a towel holder embodying myy invention. Fig. 2, a partialside elevation of the same with one of the supporting standards removed. Fig. 3, afront elevation corresponding with Fig. 2 and Fig. 4, a section of the holder with parts removed and taken.v on line -m of Fig. 2.
The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawing comprises two similar standards 1 and 2, each provided with a perforated foot 3 adapted to be secured to a vertical surface by means of screws passed through said perforations. Standard 1 is provided with a circumfereiitial laterally extending flange 4 cut-away at its lower portion to provide an opening 5 as shown. A threaded distancing sleeve 6 is interposed between standards 1 and2 and screws `"I are passed through said standards and into the ends of said sleeve to hold the parts in assembled position to form a housmg. 'Iwo spring clip, members 8 and 9 having their upper ends bent into'substantially means of a rivet 10, are secure 2 are secured. l
' bers each having and said spring and the inner member 9 are secured to flange 4 by means of a screw 12 passing through one wall of the casing as shown in Fig. 2. Members 8 and 9 are bent and fitted together as shown at the portions 13 and 14 to constitute clamping jaws adapted to receive and retain a towel .or other similar article inserted there between. At itslower end the outer member 8 is bent downwardly and upwardly to form a ring 15, and at its inner end member 9 is bent upwardly and inwardly and provided with a. perforated foot 16 adapted to be secured to the same surface to which standards 1 and In use,'a towel or similar article is laced in the holder by grasping an edge t ereof and drawing said ed e upwardly between clampin jaws 13 an 14, whereupon said jaws wil graspsaid article and retain it in position. The article is removed by simply pulling same from between said jaws.-
The abovedescribed holder will be found to be of simple and economical construction and durable and efficient 1n use.
preferred construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variaj 75 While I have illustrated and described the tion or modification without departing from y the spirit of my invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction set forth, but desire to avail4 myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
. Having described my invention what'I claim as new and desire to secure `by Letters same to a `wall; a'pair of spring clip memone end secured, 1n said housingand projecting downwardly therefrom, said clip members being lit-ted t0- gether to form clam jaws, the lower end of the inner of said clips hein bent inwardly and upwardly and provide with a perforated foot adapted to be secured to said surface; and the lower end of the outer `of said clips being bent outwardly and uplqyl wardly to form a. ring, a, circular spring in sg'd housing embracing the ends of said clip embers and forcingA them together, and'a sin 1e screw passing throu h one wall of 5 sai casing, sald circular spring and the adjacent cli member securing the same togather, su
antially as descnbed.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
' ADOLPH M. LARSEN.
